Just kidding.
What can you tell us about your wtc.

Ok, the wtc is produced by an RC submarine specialist R&R model engineering www.rcsubs.co.uk here in the UK. They are a pumped water system with a single centre ballast tank. All CNC cut inner slide out tray along with robust resin end caps. It comes complete with 380 drive motor and installed water pump. All you need to add is your RC equipment which consists of two 5g micro servos, two speed controllers, receiver and leveller. The module is around the £225 mark plus P&P.

Not quite in open water. Test tank trials went really well https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...%2FmzLxnnhib_M

Robert,

Nice test basin.

Is your tank closed or vented?

The test basin as you call it is our Model Boat Clubs test tank. Very useful it is indeed. The system is vented via a snorkel in the sail.

I was watching the video again and realized you were able to surface from more than a foot of water without the sail breaking the water surface.

Does the vent tube have a restriction that lets air out freely but prevents water from entering?

The ballast tank retains some air when full, and as you say the snorkel does indeed have a float shut off.

Hmmmm.

Can you post a photo of the float.

O-Ring gland size

Hello,

I am relatively new to building RC submarines and am eager to learn from experienced hobbyists. Could anyone kindly assist me in determining the optimal method for designing end caps for my watertight cylinder? I am specifically seeking advice on establishing the appropriate O-Ring gland size. Your expertise would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Thank you,
I know it's not much help, but basically, I used a "guess-and check" approach. However, it variable to consider is the channel or groove for the o-ring. If it's round, the o-ring has little room to squish and expand. But if it's square, with right angles, there's more room for the o-ring to spread out under pressure. Therefore, it'll be more forgiving in the sizing.

Thank you,
I'm using this site to get my groove starting points. If needed, will adjust after testing.
