DJI Goggles RE (Racing edition) - Racers only thread!

DJI just blew my mind with the new DJI Goggles RE and Air unit!!

https://store.dji.com/product/dji-goggles-racing-edition

UPDATE: Now also on Banggood
https://www.banggood.com/DJI-GOGGLES-RE-Racing-Edition-2_4G-5_8G-FPV-Headset-p-1230635.html

DJI New Goggles RE (racing edition goggles) now HD (and SD) is available for any drone racer!

The goggles upgrade itself is simple:
Ability to connect to the DJI air system
Local Movie file viewing
Panoram picture viewing

What is interesting is the connection to the air system!!
With HD camera and HD transmission with upto 50ms delay! 480p and 70ms 960p
and you don't need crossfire or other long range radio!!
It connects to your F3 F4 Kiss FC as an RX!! with SBUS and a spare UART for the OSD information
And then it connect to your RC, Taranis X9D included - Through the 3.5mm audio port on the goggles to the trainer port of the RC
The camera is 148 degree of FOV with a globalshutter against jello effect!
There is local recording of the HD footage on the Air system.
Upto 7km range on 2.4ghz!, and 4kv on 5.8ghz.
12 5.8 HD channels and 7 2.4 channels to choose from for multiple pilots, no more killing each others video (i hope)
Manually selecting a channel there is a 10mhz bandwidth, and auto selecting is 20mhz bandwidth.
There are 8 RC channels to choose from as well the the RC link has 10ms delay (can't find where i read this delay spec).
I ordered the combo with the Air system although i don't need the carry bag, currently all the air parts are out of stock so the combo is the only option.

Small update: It doesn't actually state this on the specs but these goggles support regular 5,8ghz bands!! and there is a DVR of it!!
Not sure if all bands (i.e. raceband) are supported, not sure they support DVR for HD (the regular non RE DJI goggles do not record the HD footage)
The manual says 5650hz - 5925hz so no E4 and E8???

The head tracking itself is built into the goggles, My guess is you build your own gimbal and the head tracking information is sent from the goggles to the air unit on an RC channel.
Maybe later DJI will provide their own gimbal.

Dont confuse me with the facts
Still no 3D or 1080P/60. I think I will stick to Connex(1080P-60), EMRLabs HD3D-Lite(3d 1080P-30, or 3D 720P-60) or Gopro(4,5)(1080P-60 out in preview mode), and Royole Moon(Also duel 1080P.) They are getting closer though. Need hdmi In too.

I wonder what analog 5.8ghz VideoRX is in
the goggles?

..this is going to be nice for Airplanes and Ground FPV use....
The FOV is too large for racing rice burner miniQuads

I ordered the goggles and actually missed this (sort of) there is so much information on the specs, I tried to make order of it all on the OP.
And there is still missing info:

1. The goggles support Regular FPV 5.8ghz video!!! - Which channles? are racebands supported? it doesn't state anywhere....
2. The goggles have DVR for regular analog 5.8ghz (hooray!! ) - Does it support DVR for the HD? (the regular none RE goggles do not record locally)

On the regular non RE goggles you can scale the screen down for the HDMI in (works great for me) not sure you can scale the live HD video (didn't test) or will it be possible to scale the analog 5.8 video, this is a must! the FOV is way too big for racing, but scaled down it could be the ultimate goggles (except for the bulkyness)
Another undocumented question is which protocol they use on the Air system connection to the FC? Does it support telemetry back? I hope its not PPM.....
And how do they connect the goggles to the RC like Taranis? A cable is a problem i hope they can be wirelessly connected.

This is hilarious - not the goggles, the way above posters are competing with each other with their hidden affiliate links...
