1/2A Non-Contest Control Line Gathering

Well guys...I'm happy to report that a crazy idea started by myself and my dear friend Tony Naccarato to gather at least 100 1/2A powered control line planes was...as the kids would say....EPIC!!! It was the most amazing day I've personally experienced in over 40 years dabbling in control line model aviation.

We had 127 1/2A control line models gathered and a perfect flying day. I would like to thank the Valley Circle Burners and the Knights of the Round Circle for coming out to celebrate 1/2A model aviation. Each of you made this happen and I'm forever grateful.

Looking forward to the 2nd Annual Gathering.

Best,
Tony

Thank you Thayer!

It was Flying Models Magazine that was a HUGE inspiration to continue taking my childhood passion for 1/2A to the next level. The articles and coverage of SMALL were my favorite parts of the magazine.

Well done! It's great to see others still as passionate about flying those great little engines as I am. Long live 1/2A(and 1/8A, 1/4A, and A for that matter)!

Tony, just followed this thread over from CEF. Congratulations on a very cool day. Awesome group of 1/2a fans. Fantastic photo spread too. What’s the story behind the Cox Crusader with all the notes and signatures?

Modeling Retread
This really rolled me into nostalgia. Many afternoons at the elementary school parking lot, flying Wen Mac AT6s and Cox PT-19s in the neighbor's back yard on 15’ lines and then hanging out at the control line circles in Melrose Park (Houston) after I learned to drive.

I had trouble flying built up 1/2As until I built an OS 35 powered Ringmaster. That revealed the secrets and then I could fly them all, even that bounce with your heartbeat Li’l Satan.
