F4U Corsair paint schemes!

OK,

So I have ordered a GWS Corsair Slope Glider, it seems that this plane comes without landing gear and it comes unsprayed too. All right! Now I can do it a little different from my friends.

I haven't seen many variations of the colour scheme. Can anyone give me some ideas? Thanks.

OMG! That looks good.

How did you paint it, especially the white lines?

It's not painted - it's covered with Solite...

Oh. Well, don't know how to do that...

I guess, just gotta improvise...

EDIT:

GOT An idea! Why don't I just use scotchtape and mask the places where the white lines go? And then spraaaaaaaaaaay. Peel off the scotchtape, and viola!

Will it work?

Thanks. It flew great too. I don't remember who I sold it to, but I sure hope he's enjoying it...

csisfun, masking and painting should work just fine - many people have done it. Good luck!

OK,

Here mine is. I KNOW, I KNOW!

EDIT: Mine turned out nose heavy. Funny. The biggest factor could be because of the AXI mounted radially.

Oh well, at least I get to use the clay .

It came out pretty good, except for where the paint seems to have misted some of the white on the port wing. But if you slightly mist the other one so they both look the same, that could be a very neat effect. I like the way the white stripes are rounded - looks kinda like feathers of a bird!
Have fun flying her - that's what counts most of all!

Thanks! This is my first try at customised painting. Next time around, I'm not gonna use PAPER tape to mask my stuff. Gets soaked, and doesn't stick to well on the second try.

It looks beautiful in air. The small errors don't really count anymore. Only thing I have a problem left is the cowl- it gets scratched everytime I land... the paint is weaaaaaaaaring off!

Put some clear tape over the paint on the cowl to protect it. It will peel up the pain when you take the tape off, but will protect it in the meantime.

Thin some epoxy with alcohol... to a consistency of milk, then just paint over the bottom of cowl where contacts the ground. Stands up well....cept for cement....
