Looking forward to seeing your rendition.
I used the 8.5x20 in mine and it has plenty of power. Will loop from level at the beginning of the flight even with the drag from all the ordnance. Once the battery sags a bit a loop requires a shallow dive. Most of the flight is at a few ticks above half throttle.

Agree with you about gyros too, Nemo. I'm starting to think of those as a fraud, and all the benefits just placebo effect.

finally got the aliron servo installed with push pull cables. im giving up on getting the on board ESC working again, the parts never came from thailand.
ill be using the hobbyking 3A 1s brushed esc. besides, i kinda miss the weight.
still not sure if to slave the gear to the flaps. i could save channel 6 if i do. not really much point to having flaps without the gear down imho.

ill post pics later. im a bit drunk. :O

Just found a cool paint scheme for the Skyraider that I had not known about before. The plane was nicknamed the "Spad," for reasons uncertain but relating in part to its AD designation and in part as a reference to the World War I SPAD fighters. At least one Skyraider, with the 6th Special Ops Squadron in Vietnam, was named "Spad Dad" and painted with a SPAD tail, complete with scalloped trailing edge.

Decals for this plane are available for plastic kits and could easily be scaled up for an RC model. I'll probably do one in plastic as I have already built my Guillows AD, but if I did one in Nam camo, this would be a no-brainer.
