SMOKE! 2s V's 4s

ta start with, I know this question is mostly personal preference, but I am asking what your thoughts are!

ok I am about ta build a Midwest PITTS SPECIAL! designed for a 60 2s, I have not pulled the YS 91fsac out of my EXTRA yet, but from the looks of the plans, I might have too move the FW too make enough room for a 4 stroke!

ok with that said, I have (on hand) an Os61fx with a slimeline pitts style smoke muffler!

and a YS.91FSAC! (preferred option) for which I would need ta buy a new smoke muffler for, and probably need ta move firewall!

now I guess the question is, is the power going too be about the same for both engines?

(I know making a 2s smoke is easier), and can I get exceptable (sp) smoke out of my YS?

thanks for any replies!

These are saito 1.00 4-strokes. I drilled the exhaust manifold about 3/4" from the head, tapped for a 6-32 nipple and ran my smoke line there.

Yeah! Nice plane! And that's some pretty impressive smoke.

I've never had smoke on a model, but it occurs to me that 4 stroke exhaust is hotter than 2 stroke exhaust. Seems like a better way to get smoke.

Make sure the heat tubing that connects to the exhaust is about 5" long before you splice in the standard gas tubing. I initially used 2" and the exhaust back pressure was able to burn a hole through the standard gas tubing.

Looks like she took cannon shells through all four engines - I hope that she made it home
