Spektrum Receiver Question

Just a quick question. I have a Spektrum 400 receiver with the long wire and a short wire. Will the reception still be just as good if I leave the long wire inside the plane (as shown in the photo) or do I have to have it exposed to the outside somehow?

no need to run the antennas outside if is not a carbon fiber fuselage.
About the antenna orientation , the recommendation is to have them perpendicular to each other.

I'd move your "long" antenna away from that metal push rod.
