Neu motor 1527/1,5Y/S/8

Came over this motor, could I use it for something fast?

Anyone knows there to find max spec for it?

The specs are pretty pessimistic, I've done 4500 watt bursts on a geared 1521 for many flights, and the hotliner guys probably do that on a 1100

16 kW in short bursts should be possible at 60.000 rpm but without a gearbox you are stuck at ~15.000 rpm and thus 4 kW.

For 4 kW it then becomes a bit heavy compared to a geared 1509.

Im at the position if I install the motor in a plane or boat, if it can be use in a fast airplane then I prefer that. Any suggestion on model to use and where go get a gearbox for it? Since garbox is that your prefer efter Reading comments.

Murdnunoc was going to run similar size motor (MEGA 22/80/X ) in his plane but later opted for outrunner.
Do a bit of digging to see which plane it was and if it would work for you.
Another friend static tested his weaker version of that motor to 7KW on 8X8 Sport (80%KV). So 6 KW should have fairly decent efficiency (over pitch, less RPM to control prop tip speed on fewer cells as compared to that static test).
***Where to stick in all that battery to feed your beast for high speed passes???

The plane in the picture might be a Ninja.
Search his posts to be sure.

Nice plane, I need min 10S for 825kv now I have 12S at home 3300, 5500mAh so I go from there.

Also thinking of Big Monster from HKJ, can take up to 16S.

The problem with the 8mm shaft you have is that the gearboxes Neu sells won't accommodate an 8mm shaft. It'd have to be direct drive. Looks like it was originally purchased for a boat with that cooling jacket.

Ok, no gearbox ,
I have a Schulze 180A, 3-14S esc, to use with this combo, next to find a direct drive adaptor for a prop.

Any ducted fans that would fit with 8mm shaft and 40mm motor?

Maybe this.....

Big Monster....12S.... The problem with the inrunner though would be getting enough air inside for cooling.

That is going to be an etremely noisy setup.. some like it, some donīt.

Wonder if the Schulze 180A would fit in the Big Monster fuse? Itīs pretty big.

That is my initial estimate too.

Extrapolating this graph for APC 8X10 to around 26K range/ 6KW.
This graph is from a smaller motor (300-310 grams), and that monster 15 series will hold good %KV.

If it proves within his desired power range, then replace the cheap APC test prop with a custom prop which has little more pitch for similar AMPs.

Voltage per cell and %KV data would be interesting.
Should be a very exciting project.

IDK,having a pinion gear bored for 8mm should be simple enough provided the pinion is large enough. Most likely need the P-65 over the P-42 gearbox.
The real issue is shaft length. Can't imagine it needing to be very long but IDK how thick the baseplate & or shims are.
With that said it might be simpler to get an updated rotor.

The pinion isn't big enough to bore out to 8mm. As for the rotor, I'm not sure that you wouldn't need a new front and back plate on the motor, the bearings might be different enough that a simple swap with different bearings won't work (never owned an 8mm shaft version, just guessing).

Here's a pic of a 1515 that's about to have a P42-like F3A gearbox mounted to, and the mounted pinion:
