Question
Bluetooth Speakers
It seems one way to easily provide a wide variety of sound effects would be to store them on a smart phone and broadcast to the boat via a small Bluetooth speaker. Understanding the range limitations and reduced amplification available from a small speaker inside a boat, has anybody had any success with this type of arrangement?

I had one in the ferry boat for one float.
The connection and sound would cut out, whether due to water or what, I don't know. The model wasn't even out eight or ten feet.... |

They claim 30-35 foot range , but I I use a small BT speaker out back, and find it cutting out in less than 10 feet like Umi.
Per the specs: Quote:
Use Wi-Fi speakers if you want any useable distance. The sound would probably be inaudable by the time Wi-Fi runs out of range. You can get small Wi-Fi transmitters that plug into the earphone port of your smartphone (Sorry, new iPhone owners). |

I used this Marsboy speaker. It is basically a 2" cube, self powered, and receives Bluetooth up to 50 ft. away. It fits nicely down inside my ship and can receive a variety of sound effects from my phone. I only use it when close to shore, so the distance is not a problem. Down inside my ship it was somewhat muffled, so I built a small structure to hide it on deck.
