plug wont fit back in mold!!
well i finally got a decent mold half made but when i pulled it off the parting plate the plug popped out, this in its self is not a problem but it seems as if the mould has flexed, bc the plug is still straight, but the part that was on the parting board is still flat
the tail fits fine and the nose fits fine but the part just ahead of the tail wont stay all of the way in the mold. what could cause this? and how can i deal with it? i would rather not have to make a new mold half as the materials are quite expensive here. i will post pics in a few minutes |

First, I've only done this once but this is what happened to me...
When I separated my mold from the plug the epoxy was still ever so slightly soft (I waited 16 hours for it to cure). The force applied to the mold when speparating it from the plug (not much by any means) was enough to slightly twist it. I solved this by putting the flat part of the mold against a flat surface and some weight on the mold. After another 24 hours of curing fixed in this position the mold was completly straight. Maybe not letting the epoxy fully cure could have caused your problem? I've heard that it takes days of curing for the epoxy to reach it's full strength. - David |

i think that is probably it
i have reattached it to the parting board<with screws> and put it by the exaust side of an airconditioner<for heat to hopefully soften the resin> where i am going to leave it for a while hopefully when the resin rehardens when it cools it should be held in the correct position |
