Quick and dirty 450 swashplate leveller

Hi folks, I was on the search for a decent SWASHPLATE level instead of using cable ties and the majority that I could find were the type with a magnet and a slot in the side, I've not seen particularly good reviews on those as they allow movement.

All the full disk levels were ether silly money or for another size heli.

So there I am, sitting at my desk and I suddenly had a brainstorm, that V912 sitting on my windowsill has the same diameter Shaft and the gear is small enough to clear the swashplate guide!

So I rummaged about for a old gear, filed down the flange on one side so it can sit low enough and bosh! I have a free swashplate level!

The plastic gear fits really snug on the 450 Shaft, it's dead square and flat and the outer diameter of the gear sits right where the links are, it couldn't be better!

As you can see, my swashplate needs adjustment, so easy to get it perfect now

Could be a good alternative in a situation you don't have anything else. As I see it, all my gears have wobble never seen a completely straight one. So that could be an issue unfortunately. Imo cable tie should be more accurate. But cool with new ideas

I don't know if your talking about wobble from a 450 gear on a 450 Shaft but the V912 gear is very tight with no movement at all.

Also the gear is definitely straight, I know what you mean about gears not being totally flat, I've seen this in almost all the 450 gears I've used but the 912 gear does not have this issue, with this gear it's definitely better than cable ties

the zip tie method is about as foolproof and economical is possible. once i discovered it i never used anything else. I wish i didn't buy all those levelers now..
