MTM 400F Slow Stick AP? w 400 F gearbox w Nikon 3700?

Anyone tried the MTM blue 400 F outrunner motor with the recomended GWS 400 F drive gearbox and 12x80 prop? with a suppose 34.65 oz of thrust!
They claim MTM 400F Out Runner Brushless Motor 990 g / 34.65 oz Thrust GWS 70T/18T=3.90 (400C) EP-1280 12V 16A ... looks like a good candidate for a 28oz slow stick carrying a nikon 3700. let me know if anyone has used this on a SS for AP and set up. thanks!

I have this motor in a 28mm Cobri Gearbox geared approx. 3.2:1 turning a GWS 11x7 HD prop on 3 cells lipo for a little over 32 ounces of thrust. I fly a 32 ounce Lazy Bee with it and it will just hover at full throttle ( that is how I know I have at least 32 ounces of thrust) and it pulls 14 amps@10.2 volts. I would think you could do real good with your mentioned set-up. This motor runs really strong and has never given me any problems at all !]

I have tried it and I am impress with the MTM blue 400 F outrunner motor with the recomended GWS 400 F drive gearbox and 12x80 prop! I have not yet flown her with the camera as I just maiden my first flight with this set up. but feels like a good pull on the thrust. flies vertical with no problem. anybody else try this set up?

If you intend to use the MTM 400F outrunner with a 12x8 - please use a 3.9 or larger gearbox. I like the 1500 - 12C LiPo's with this setup. I also prefer the 3.4 gearbox on an 11x7 DD prop.

A 12x8 on a smaller gearbox would probably pull too many amps and could damage the motor and certainly require some very high amp batteries.

Some charts on http://www.JustGoFly.com web site:
400F on 3:1 gearbox:

400F on 3.4:1 gearbox:

400F on 3.9:1 gearbox:

A video of the 11x7 on a heavy PT-17 with 3:1 (3.4:1 goes easier on the batteries) :
