San Diego meet up for RC Paramodels

Hello All

My name is Jack and I have been flying small park flyer class RC Paramotors around San Diego beaches since 2007. Recently I was contacted by a couple others interested in flying RC Paramotors. We have met up and flown together maybe a dozen times so far.
Tonight I am creating this discussion to promote flying RC Paramotors in San Diego. Tonight at 5:30 two of us will be there to fly around the sunset. If you are interested please feel free to stop by or ask questions here. The SEFSD club does require AMA and SEFSD membership to fly, if you are not a member feel free to come out an watch.

Hope to see you there if not tonight maybe next time. I will update this same post next time we plan to meet up.

It was a fun time!

It was fun a couple Sky Surfer flights and I flew my Oxy 1.0. Here's a shot starting up the GOPRO before launching.

Tonights Meet Up at the Beach

Tonight Duncan and I had a great evening flying the small park flyers at the beach at sunset.
Duncan is flying a modified Sky Surfer and I flew my Oxy 0.5. If you are in or near San Diego and interesting in RC Paramodels drop me a message.

All,

The San Diego group grows! Now Mark, Duncan, Mike and Jack. San Diego RC Paramotor Pilots. Unfortunately Duncan and Mike are relocated to Arizona.

Saturday Morning Dec 2nd at the SEFSD field I met up with Mark another San Diego RC Paramotor Pilot. It was a great morning for flying. It was fun to get a couple wings up into the sky. I flew 3 flights with my Power 1.1 and again had some fun in the light thermals east of the runway. Mark brought two Hacker models, a Nexus 4.3 with trike and an RC Free with Darth Vader riding the power pack.

It was great to meet up and share RC Paramotor topics about launching etc...

I think Mark might have been able to capture a couple photos.

Jack, thanks for posting, I hope we can get 5 in the air at the same time when Duncan is here (2 of yours, 2 of mine, and 1 of his). Getting all 5 in one photo could be a challenge. I also had my mobius camera at the field on Saturday, but forgot to use it. If we get 5 in the air, we should make sure at least one is carrying a camera.

I also looked up Opale and Hacker specs ...wings have a flat span, a projected span, a flat area, and a projected area, and then I see various site quoting these in English and metric units. So it is a bit confusing. But mainly Opale seems to go by flat area in m^2, and Hacker goes by flat span in m. The Opale 1.1 is 1.1m^2 of flat area, and 2.36m of flat span. The Hacker RC Free is listed as variously 2.4 or 2.5m flat span in different sources. But it is also 1.1m^2 flat area, so very similar size to Opale 1.1. The Nexus 4.3 is 4.3m flat span, and 3.0m^2 flat area.
