I pulled off 6.3oz of lead taped on top of the battery.
Then mixed up some lead shot and resin and poured 6oz in the nose. I checked first and there was plenty of room in front of the battery and tray.
Some people say that the Opus is slightly nose heavy without wing ballast. Others say the CG at 2-5/8 is perfect.

The wing is in great shape. There was 10oz of brass ballast slugs that I have now removed. I pulled the clear servo covers off and inspected the servos and linkages. Then I brushed and vacuumed out the Weldon dirt. The painted surfaces were waxed and polished with meguires cleaner wax.
I will leave the covers off until I have set up the radio.

The flaps only drop about 45, the horn touches the bottom wing skin. If I relieved the skin around the horn I don’t think I’ll get much more throw due to the geometry. I will try to live with 45 flaps or change horns somewhere down the line.
The ailerons don’t have a huge amount of throw but should be plenty. The linkage is robust.

The elevator servo is an Airtronics 94761 with an aluminum arm and ball link on one end and clevis on the other. Looks like a good job on the install and a strong setup.

Flew the Opus this past weekend. Alan was able to dial it in perfectly with a few minor tweaks.
Added 2 TX mixes for temperature and speaker box channel selection.
Dialed in the Pitot tubes for more accurate airspeed readings.
Lowered the gain at higher speeds and increased at lower speeds.
Made a small aileron trim adjustment.

After the updates, most speed readings were within 2mph of radar readings.
I think I got a max airspeed of 242.
Oh, and the plane flew beautifully.
Absolutely amazing!
