My flying buddy Dale was at the free indoor flying at the Toledo Show and mentioned that there were about a half dozen Quasars in attendance. I found a couple pictures in the thread and thought I would post them here.

Seems to me you have a 'hit' on your hands.

Be prepared, I've had people ask me to autograph their NutBalls.

Mine's the white, blue and black checkered one! Lot's of fun. I did have a few people comment on how well it flew. Steered them to WMPF.

this the V1 with the QX motor and an 8x4.3SF prop.

You guys play rough. Between the floor, rafters and other aircraft you are definitely giving the Quasar a good durability test.

When I say bash and crash, I really mean it...lol... plus it gets very cold in the hall, so any impact and the props will shatter.. the steel roof supports are killers, and seem like they could do with being higher.... the very hard concrete flooring gets hit after we manage a mid air mix up..
The 8mm thick EPP models hold up well, they bounce, small or thinner stuff can get chopped, but its not deliberate, and its all glued back together for the next time....
Last week there wasnt so many flying.. sometimes its just a madhouse 10 or 12 models up.. but its always fun..

I am thinking now of a bigger Q.. a 26" span using the QX motor, and made from the lightweight B&Q Diall 5mm green foam board.. this one just for outside .. and made a KFm2 with laminating film for extra stiffening.. It should end up at a lower wing loading.. we will see..

edit ...the big Q is being built.. but Ive gone with a KFm4 wing..using a 5mm step layer on top and a 3mm below..
The fuzz is double thickness, as is the rudder.

Another session flown and again the video of the v2 was messed up , the headcam was set too high and the model was often missed, low out of frame..
another job ...to hot glue the headcam mount so its always set correctly.

However both models are flying alike.. and flying very nicely...their only noticed difference being thrust.. the QX motor with an 8x4 on 2s gives less thrust than the 2205-? with an 8x4.3sf prop..
I will experiment with better props for the QX, .. however its good enough, it does have vertical, just not so much as the 2205 with a sf prop.

The 26" is coming along... the wing was made as a KFm4, it has a total thickness of 13mm.. From the front , back to the steps, it will get a lamination film covering.. the elevons will get fully covered and will be hinged with film ..
Working today the airframe is all done and the bare frame weighs 5.6oz.. the wing is lovely and stiff, feels strong..

edit ... All done the AUW is 10.8oz with the QX motor, 3x htx500 servos, an 18A ESC , an orange RX and a 450 3s lipo..... at 3.3sqft that's a loading of 3.27ozsqft.....No Wheels however....
hopefully the specs on the QX are accurate, I should have better than a 2:1 power to weight...
I still need to add some decor, some coloured tape will do it fine
My v1 is flying lovely indoors at 3.47ozsqft.. 8oz

So here's a little powerhouse I just found: Sunnysky R2304/1800kv

https://www.tomtop.com/p-rm9293.html

They claim 20 grams, same as the 2204, but thrust into the 600's on 2S and 900's on 3S. 20 amps and 218 watts.

Wow, if true. Gotta try one.

all done...
The qx motor hovers the model at 55% power.. so there is plenty in reserve..
The HXT500 servos are crap brand new they are noisy and jerky, they may need replacing..
my best small servos are tgy1440a from hobbyking, cheap, smooth and quiet.. Ive got a load of them, but wanted a larger servo for the bigger model..
edit.... now added some wheels on a 3mm CF X and axel setup..the new AUW is 11.5oz..... a 3.4747ozsqft loading, the same as my v1

yes... hobbyking... the 1440a is a lot smaller servo, but with better specs.. they are fine on the standard size Q....and have proved reliable ..
I have a lot of these..

I have just ordered some of these cheap ones.
https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-...-08sec-6g.html much cheaper with a touch more strength..

The problem with buying HobbyKing servos, isn't the servos. HK is about the most tone-deaf, incompetent retailer I've ever done business with. Unfortunately they sell stuff I like.

I was able to buy those servos off Amazon. They still come from HK, but at least I didn't have to deal with that horrible website. I think shipping was less too.
