Culver Drawings?

Anyone know where to find Culver Cadet and Dart 3-views?

Thanks!

Bob,

There was a free plan of the Culver Dart in the Sept 2004 issue of RCM+E magazine.

Rob, I don't know of any 3-views, but here they sell plans in 1/3 and 1/4 scale:

In the meantime I'll post some pictures I shot at Sun 'n Fun 2000 in Florida.

Max.

I have seen plans for the Culver "V" on that internet auction site. These are copies of the old Berkeley kit at 1"=1' (1:12 scale), which is a 29" span. Included a sheet of part patterns, printed from the sheet parts.

In the same genre is the little Globe Swift. Bob Holman sells plans and laser cut parts (short kit) for the classic Earl Stahl design of this craft. It spans 30". See http://www.bhplans.com/.

The original magazine article and plans (.pdf downloads) can also be found at The Plan Page. See the Earl Stahl section- a real candy store! http://www.theplanpage.com/

Herr Hooper, achtung!
Please tell us all you know- we have ways of making you talk

I am trying to break your code. RCM+E =
Radio Control Models magazine? The website lists no Culver in the 2004 issues. A search only yields something in April '03 and Dec '00.

Is it RCMW?

Jeff,

My apologies! Radio Control Models & Electronics is probably the best-selling RC magazine here in the UK.

The publishers (Nexus) have a really appalling website here;

By the way, if you order plans from Nexus they send them surface mail, the last set I bought took 8 weeks to get here.

Well the story does not end there.

I just returned from the shop of the US Distributors of what is indeed billed as "Britain's Best-selling R/C Model Aircraft Magazine", RCM&E, - Wise Owl. Yes I found that back issue of AMI, with Peter Rake's Fok. D.II (plans incl.) that I have been looking for, and a Windsock Mini Data-File,... What I did not find was a September issue with any mention of a Culver Dart. Odd as it is I found the Culver plans in the October '04 issue and notes on the plans that they belong to the August issue.

This is a mix-up, but all 4 of their copies were this way. The Oct issue features a article on the "Limit EX" glider to go with the usual free plan (which were not in there). There was no August back issue to check. My guess is it does not have the Culver Dart plans, perhaps it has the Limit EX plans.

So September has nothing to do with a Culver, but it is the average issue since it sits between the August and October ones that together tell the whole story.

Umm, I think there's some confusion here. On another thread, it was noted that R/C Scale International was ceasing publication. It was to have the Culver Dart feature in the September issue, but it did not publish, so, evidently, the plan was put instead into RCM&E, a sister publication, with no explanation.

Is that about right?

Right-ho.....

The September issue (published in mid-August) carried both the free plan, and the accompanying article. Or was it the August issue?

The October issue (published in mid-September obviously) featured an article on the Limitex glider but instead of including the relevant plan, the guys at Nexus included the Culver plan again.

So, the plan was in two issues of RCM+E by mistake.

Some more

I forgot my manners. Thank you Tim for the clarification.

Here is some eye candy... I must give credit for the photo to Vintage Aircraft Photo Album at... http://www.russellw.com/photoalbum . It's packed with more Swifts- many in the polished aluminum form, as well as many more Culver's too and so many other Civilian craft- great site!

Jeff,

That's a fabulous site! Have you added it to the 'useful links' thread at the top of the forum page?

Slightly off topic, but with you guys over in the UK, have they put the Limit EX plans in the November issue?

As over here in Australia we are 1 month behind in getting RCM&E and I am really wanting to build the Limit EX.
