Worlds LARGEST scratch built turbine 747!!!

Here's a few pics of a good club mates scratch built 747 that made its first appearance at my club today for some testing. This thing is freaking amazing! 6 meter wingspan, 4 turbines with 56kg of thrust. The attention to detail and the finish is simply astonishing.

Absolutely incredible achievement, I'm in awe personally. Can't wait to make a video of it! (edit: Some extra pics and a small taxi vid added)

I'll update this thread as I get more material and vids. Cheers. .

That's amazing Shirty, gotta ask again, who are these guys??? Aero-engineers to begin with? Does he have a fabrication plant at his disposal? This is not your average Joe, with a few tools in his basement! Impressive!

lol, cheers boys. Its a decent sized club (226 members), not too far from the city and prob the best runways for all this giant scale stuff, which is mainly why there's so many amazing planes here I guess. Plus nice big covered pits with power points in every pit, canteen with sit down menu meals in covered areas etc. Seperate heli and control line areas, drone racing, and the off road buggy club is next door. I think the venue attracts a lot of the high end stuff to be honest. And the annual membership is pretty cheap at $350, which includes your MAAA insurance. For the most part, its a pretty good club - but can get really busy on the week-ends and you're pretty much restricted to flying circles at peak times like on a saturday morning. (not good for me as I like to do 3d more than anything). And like any club, we have a two or three dudes who are complete , but for the most part its a good, fun group. I consider myself lucky to be an instructor there, and I get to fly some amazing stuff for people every now and then.

Yesterday I got to do some 3D flying with this monster, sooo much fun. (104inch extreme flight mxs, not my pic btw but awesome fun to fly).

I'll have a chat with Andrew about the 747, and get as much info as I can. I'm hoping he'll let me film the maiden and make a bit of a movie about the whole project. I'll update as soon as I can get the info. Cheers fellas.

G'day fellas,

We had our media day today at my club with the tv stations, newspapers and radio to promote our annual show for the public, with the scratch built 747 the star attraction obviously. It's now officially confirmed as the worlds largest rc turbine 747. Man it's LOUD! Sounds almost like the real thing with all four turbines going.

Funny thing though, out of all the nice planes on display, the tv and newspaper blokes all wanted shots of the 747 with my little blue nose mustang! Who needs the worlds largest 747 when you have a 1400mm blue nose foamy hey?

Here's a few pics from today, I got plenty of vid too, so I'll edit that up and post as soon as I get time. Cheers boys.
