Will I be able to upgrade from 7.5 to 8 without having to buy new software for 100 dollars? is there an upgrade for $30 dollars or whatever?

As a long-time owner and user of Real Flight 7.5, this is great news! I put a copy of RF-8 on back order with Tower Hobbies today!
And as a Real Flight X owner, I'm very happy to hear that KE is working on an update for that sim. |

Nice, have been playing with my Oculus Rift and VR flying. Setup a large map using Unreal engine and the basic flying starter code. Added my own control setup for Xbox controller.
It was a very immersive experience with a 110 degree FOV compared to my Fatshark FPV drone racing goggles with 32degree FOV. Framerate was low though at times, but I was using Blueprints instead of C++ and the highest quality lighting and running in editor mode. A lot will depend on frame rate on a good VR experience. |

Did you know that you can create new motors to your heart's content using the aircraft editor? Quote:
While as a user you don't have the ability to create a custom challenge at this time, there are still things you absolutely can do. Using the airport editor, you can place gates wherever you like to create a custom course. The sim won't detect when you pass through gates or time you, but you can still practice flying the course. You can scale up the existing gate objects until you're happy with the size. If you or someone you know has the tools and the talent, you can even create custom airport objects (like gates) and import them into RealFlight. Re: an upgrade path, that is determined by our publisher, Hobbico. You'll need the software only edition, and I know they are working on something for existing customers. |

Forgot to add, the VR experience will be better for FPV drone racing than normal sim flying.
This is due to the lower resolution of VR goggles compared to PC monitors. Anyone with VR goggles will already know this though. For inside cockpit view they definitely need a "centre view" bottom. It seems to be very handy in iRacing so you don't have to move around to centre your body, this is because people as sitting in a copout frames and in front of a wheel. Also i'am running a 6600 3.1, 16gig, gtx970. Runs Robo Recall nicely with 1.5 super sampling. Same with iRacing. |

Sounds promising - I was concerned that RF might be going off the rails with X, but this one sounds like the sort of thing I'll update for. The VR sounds like a superb feature - limited view and loosing the frame of reference especially when flying high closer in has always been a problem, VR may solve that. Looking forward to any reviews/recommendations on system requirements for the VR to work well.
