I've heard of bamboo being used but surely it is difficult to work with? Congratulations to your father for making a plane with it

Here's a nice bipe from the 30's, mainly made of bamboo.

Wow, that is cool. Does the plane still exist? If not, pretty cool you still have photo of it.

F1B is ok.
Hello, I think the material was -spruce and plywood- in this early years. The pictures is from a 1938 kataloge.

This bipe is scanned from a book, printed 1934. Unfortunately no plan, but it sure is inspiring....it would be nice to build something similar, maybe using laminated balsa, or laminated balsa/1/64" ply....

Good find Heinz. Maybe that's the kit he built it from.

That got me thinking that most Forums have a 'post your models' thread and we haven't.

We have now.

Here's my montage to start it off.

The second model shown is (or was) on this site. Be prepared to spend a bit of time looking at all the "Oddities".

The Flying Octagons was published in Aeromodeller Annual 1974-75 Edition.

The dolphin (Delphinium to be strictly correct) was a free plan in Aeromodeller. I was sent a copy of the drawing but haven't got it now. I suppose it could be trimmed to undulating flight, but it's very twitchy to trim and needs very careful power control to prevent any stalling. Lateral balance and a low cg is also critical. It's one of those models I want to make into a Depron electric r/c model. It's on the list but whether I will ever manage it I don't know. Someday....

Thanks for posting that Heinz! I've dug out the Octagons to add to it.

Motor range is .010 to .049

Thank you everyone for the plans and the website. For some reason I like the oddities. Soon as I finish moving I will build these two.

Thanks,

King Richard
