International Travel

Just wanted to know what you all do for transporting your large multi rotor drone like a DJI S1000 internationally? Specifically how you address the LiPo battery restrictions on airlines?

Ship batteries in advance?

Pair multiple smaller batteries in place of the larger packs over 100 Wh or 160 Wh?

You're only allowed 2 "spare" batteries, so it doesn't really matter. The only effective way to do it is ship them ahead of time, or buy new ones and have them directly shipped to the job location.

There are other issues here too: depending where you go you're likely going to have to pay import duties on the equipment and batteries. If you have new ones shipped you may have to pay import duties on the shipment. Try to take into account all those costs, plus permit fees, etc, and tack it all onto the cost of the project.
