Building EPP flying wings from scratch

I think I want to get setup to make my own EPP wings from scratch. I tried to do a search on foam cutting and got some ideas and a lot of conflicting information, so I'm still not sure what I need and where I can get it.

I was thinking of using the "bow" method, but I'm not sure where I can get suitable high resistance wire and what type of power supply is the best (cheapest )

Also where is the best place to get EPP and how expensive is it?

Cheers

Dennis I use 2 12volt deep cycle car batteries through 032" stainless lire I have found this to be the best combo for my cutting this one of my small bows which works great.

PS you dont want high resisitance wire you want something with the lowest resistance you can get

I was worried about shorting the power supply out, but I suppose once it heats up the resistance will increase enough to limit the current (sounds scary though)

Are you just, hooking 2x12 to make 24V, do you use any form of resistors? Where do you get the wire and foam?

Cheers

the EPP from Kye of Wowings fame and the EPS you can get just about anywhere no resistors if Iam cutting hot I'll use the batteries wired in series to give me 24volts but normal cutting just parrallel 12 volts

Thanks. How long of a span of EPP would one 12V battery cut?

I have plenty ok .020 lockwire Dennis, also a friend will cut wings as required on his CNC cutter, I think about $20 you supply the EPP for a wing.

A 12v battery and a light dimmer switch work well

Maybe I would still like my own cutter though, but the CNC sounds like it would do a better job.

only worth the effort if you are going to cut heaps of wings takes up alot of room on your bench so if your only cutting the occasional set its not worth the cost and effort to det up the cnc machine

Steve, I think Mick was saying that his friend would cut them to order.

Mick - OOI, roughly how much does your friend charge for labour to cut a set of cores?

I second that its a lot of effort you could have made 100 wings in the time it takes to setup a cnc.

yep but dennis was still keen to have a go at cutting his own as well just thought I throw in the setup time and value for a cnc machine
