News From Triple Tree - E Week and More!

The Electric Nall, Heli Extravaganza, and more in the latest news letter from the great folks at Triple Tree Aerodrome.

E-Week 2017 - Sept 27th Through Oct 1st

Once again, the time is here to pre-register for what has become a MAJOR Triple Tree event! That’s right; the electrics are going to have their special time again at Triple Tree this coming September 25-October 1. Electric models of all types, size and shape are welcome. The entire facility will be open for Helis, Sport/Scale, 3D, Float, Park Flyers and even Control Line models. The camping area on what is traditionally termed the “Electric Line” has been groomed and even more “premium” sites added. These Premium sites have 50 amp electrical hookups as well as water connections. In addition, the renovated Electric Line runway has the same Tifway 419 grass as the main line runway and is every bit as smooth! Another new and welcomed feature is the equipment shed at the electric line which doubles as a covered, shaded model “hangar” during this event.

As usual there will be vendors, noon time demos and that great Triple Tree food available. The shuttle buses will be operating all day as needed. The Triple Tree staff and volunteers will be working hard to make sure you agree that Triple Tree is “The home of Fun, Fellowship and Hospitality”.

Fees for this event are as follows:

PILOT FEES Adult Pilot - $50 for the entire event or decreases $5 per day until reaching $30 for Friday and Saturday and finally just $20 for Saturday only. Pilot 18 or below - $15 (same as above – onetime fee)

CAMPING, Spectator and Meal FEES Camping – varies according to type of space and day of arrival. Please go to /then eWeek/then eWeek registration for details Spectator pricing also varies by number of days and this information is available at the above website.

The Barbeque dinner is moved to Friday evening this year and is priced at $15 for adults and $8 for kids.

So, make plans now to attend this incredible event. See you there!

Heli Extravaganza - Sept 21st Through 24th

Cool air and blue skies at Triple Tree always signals that it’s time for one of the “coolest” events of the year. Is it cool because it’s fall or could it be all of the heli “fans” stirring the air? Yes, those wild and crazy rotorheads are all heading to Triple Tree in late September for the annual Heli Extravaganza! Hundreds of RC helicopters will be airborne and it is just amazing to watch their rapid-fire flight maneuvering including upside-down grass clipping! This is a must for any of you RC heli pilots that want to fly with the very best heli pilots at the very best heli facility. Triple Tree offers hundreds of acres of open flying space for the “normal” helicopters and some really challenging and beautiful landscape for those that love to fly the multi-rotored drones. In addition to flying (or watching) some of the world’s best helis and heli pilots fly, you will also experience the world famous Triple Tree “Fun, Fellowship and Hospitality”. Camping space is virtually unlimited with newly developed water-front spots by the river that are just beautiful. Make plans NOW to come and experience four days of heli bliss. You’ll love every minute, meet old or make new great friends, fly at the very best location and leave relaxed and refreshed. Pricing and information on meals, golf cart rentals, etc. is available at:

Please pre-register NOW so we can get an accurate count for meal planning! Thanks and we’re looking forward to seeing you soon.

Triple Tree Fly-In(s) Thank You!

Wow, for the first time ever at Triple Tree, we had TWO major full-scale fly-ins and both occurred within a two week period!

The decision was made just a few weeks in advance of the total eclipse that Triple Tree should organize a “small” event and give flyers a great place to view the eclipse. In a hastily put together meeting, we estimated that, given the late date, we could expect 50-100 aircraft to attend. Boy, were we wrong! By the time the sun and moon were in totality, on eclipse day, an estimated 600+ aircraft had landed at Triple Tree! Pilots and their guests arrived from all over the U.S. and all agreed that it was a once in a lifetime experience. The eclipse was pretty amazing too! Between the eclipse parties, camping and great food, the excitement grew right up until the time of the eclipse. Then, as the beautiful grounds and crystal clear skies at Triple Tree went dark, there was a loud cheer. It was truly an unforgettable experience. As usual, the fabulous Triple Tree volunteers made it all look easy and our advisory tower staff did a great job getting everyone in and out.

Then, just a couple of weeks later, the Triple Tree Fly-In was scheduled to begin just as hurricane Irma began to raise her ugly head in the Atlantic. While Triple Tree weather was absolutely perfect (cool and clear), the storm was heading directly for Florida and threatening to head directly towards South Carolina. The weather basically cut off all of our Florida friends and discouraged others that would have normally flown in. An estimated 400+ airplanes braved the clear skies and cool weather to attend and boy, did we have a ball! Once again, Fun, Fellowship and Hospitality reigned and lots of socializing, eating fabulous food and great seminars provided plenty of entertainment.

The two events together saw over 1,000 airplanes land at Triple Tree! The same group of volunteers handled both events and the Eclipse was a short notice event. They do it because they love seeing both the old and new Triple Tree friends!

That said, from Mr. Pat and all of the volunteers, we want to send a heartfelt “Thank You” to all of our aviation friends. Your support, by attending our events, donating or both, provide much needed support that allows us to constantly make Triple Tree better and more enjoyable. We truly love both the magical people that visit and the magical place called Triple Tree. Thank you again and we look forward to next year’s events!
