V2 Jet Teng L39 Landing gear From JP Hobby. Video added

I just received my new gear set from Fan Jets USA for my L39 that I have been flying.
This new gear set is absolutely stunning.
I will post some photos this evening after I have a chance to weigh and compare old gear to the new.
I can tell you that the new gear is play free and has really nice dampening on the struts.
The controllers are tiny compared to the previous units too. The brakes are supposed to be proportional too.

Not sure if the mounting dimensions will match the JTM units I have been using but if they do it will make me one happy individual.

Great news the new retracts have the same mounting dimensions as the original gear!

I'm on the left Main gear last night.
The action of these struts is smooth as butter! Operational voltage of the landing gear is from 5 V to 8.4 V

Reading of the brake instructions a second time I realize they are not proportional but you can adjust the braking force. Operating them at 8.4 V there was a fine line between brakes on and brakes off. I am considering applying a film of Grease or installing a voltage regulator.

The retract system is installed. I had to relocate the Door servo as the steering servo sits sidesways on the new NG Retract and would rub the servo case during the cycle. . The new door servo location is much easier to access too. I will post more photos of the final installation I'm going to do a little mini build thread on the model

Sunday I was able to put two flights on the L 39. Finally the take off roll was uneventful, and the landing was even better. Landings in the past if not executed absolutely perfect, by rolling the jet on, the nose gear would slap down on the surface. On the new gear the model sits lower to the ground. And the L 39 has a narrow main gear track that has always made it susceptible to crosswinds. I think the lower stance and the high precision of the landing gear makes for a huge difference.
I hope to get some video this coming weekend if the weather holds as predicted

What motor/batt config are you running with your Shubie? How many amps? Just trying to compare to my 14s JF120 Pro set-up. Nice flying!

Looks great!

I replaced the pneumatic brakes on my A-4 with JP wheels and brakes. I wanted 70mm but I did not want the weight of the hefty 70mm JP tires and wheel, so I under sized to 65mm for a much lighter wheel/tire combo and I'm reasonably happy. I had to "hand machine" (ie dremmel) my Robart struts to mate the brake face to the strut for the anti-roation design to work, but it turned out well and I'm happy with the fit. There have been some reports of asymmetrical braking on smaller planes and lower voltage inputs but I think for larger planes using higher braking values, there is not a problem and these JP brakes seem to work well. Awesome retrofit on your L-39 and glad you have a favored airplane back better than new from the sounds of it!
