Digitech Angle and Throw Meter - Version 3

I bought these last spring and just now getting around to making a video. These are way better mousetraps! I am all digital now on my throw meters. It is a very nice luxury having 2 of these when doing a new setup. Check out what is says on the ruler/mount:-)

David: Looks like a nice gadget. What is the price with the ruler and how can I get one. Thanks

Post #2 has their website. The main unit is 49 Euros. The ruler/mount is extra.

They are in the Netherlands and delivery doesn't take long.

AT Wizard

I just got an AT Wizard to use with my iPhone/iPad . Works great! I like having the larger screen. In the U.S. you can get them at Aeropanda:

I use the at wizard. I prefer it’s low weight for f5j wings. It seems to be only accurate to about 1 degree, so hardly bey]tter than using your eye if you just looking for say a tiny amount of reflex.

It’s a good product, I’m glad I’ve got it. Goes with my new cg machine.

The cg machine is very expensive but an excellent piece of equipment. Best addition to my workshop since the Dremel.

In the Apple shop the “AT wizard” app was just updated with comment “increased precision”.

I look forward to trying it out when I get back to Sydney.

I do also think it could be further improved if there was a surface attachmr[ent clip or some thing built in

Thanks for the heads up on Ver. 1.1, David! I also want to get one of those CG machines. Not a must have for me right now but certainly should make a nice tool to have in the shop.

David L, have you found with the upgraded version (1.1) that your AT Wizard is super sensitive to the point of being unuseable? I can't even use it to accurately measure surface throws because the measurement readout jumps all over the place and won't hold a steady number. I reported the issue to Digitech but haven't received a response. Was wonder if it was just an issue with my unit or something the upgrade affected. Thanks.

Hi
i did answered the email , but somehow it didnt find you.
the new app has now the resolution set to 0.1mm or degrees.
this can make it indeed very sensible to any surface or servo vibrations.
before you had a 1mm or 1 degree difference.
if its to sensitive for you :

1. put some thin foam between the at and the surface
2 . as close as possible to the hinge line.

lots of people asked us for the 0.1mm resolution , i guess this is the outcome where it looks more sensitive but it is not actually.
you can also discard anything after the 1.o .

any other questions? just ask them.

Hi the AT Wizard and the angle and throw we sell .
i use a bit of double sided tape to hold it down.
there are distribitors that sell our deives and they also sell 3D printed tools to hold the devices.
we dont make them .

a few of them are:

enough ideas i am sure some people will pick it up and make these available to everyone to 3D print.

Hi Sandor

I've been using the device out near the trailing edge. I will use it near the hinge line in future. Thanks for the links

Thanks for your reply, Sandor. I have tried the AT Wizard on several F3X gliders and have the same issue with the meter dancing all around. Like you said it must be picking up on vibrations from the digital servos that my eye can't detect.

Is there a chance you can offer two versions of the app? The less sensitive version in 1mm increments and the 0,1mm version?

Hi,
Isn't that quite easy to test; set the device on stable surface, eg table, and look how the decimals keep jumping around. (I've been designing and prototyping a measurement device with stable 0.1° resolution and accuracy. Achieving that is possible, I've done it, but requires quite a lot of filtering, at least with consumer grade accelometers. 1 degree resolution is possible without any filtering.)
