6S Rare Bear Powertrain in New Model

Hey guys,

I've been flying my Elite Rare Bear on 6S (3300mah) since I got it, and man it really rips.

But I'd really like to take that powertrain (ie, stock motor, stock esc, stock prop) out and stick it in an airframe that's not as heavy and draggy as the stock RB frame is...maybe with a slicker/lighter frame, I could pick up another 10-15mph

Any ideas? Can be foam or balsa. Thoughts?

thx

Curious too

Let's define the power system a little better:

EFlite Motor: 1200Kv 15BL 3541 (EFLM1215) on 6S spinning an 8X8 prop. 80A(?) ESC.
Motor weight with prop adapter = 163g

That was my first thought. Don't the EF-1 specs allow or intend a 4S 3300mah battery as standard?

Any EF-1 is going to be more draggy than the Bear.

I'd try a QM15 plane. They're available from a few different sources. Less draggy than EF1 with a stronger wing to take the extra forces that a pylon turn with that much power would generate.

The A J2 (same website) is a awesome little plane I bagged my wing with carbon stiff as hell and it flew like it was on Rails nice craftsmanship in the fuselage it's a nice plane Kevin did an awesome job on that one!!

I have a Rivets in the garage that I'll get around to one of these days. Just a steep learning curve for me as I'm not much of a builder.

Could you please measure the insides of the fuse with the thought of placing a 6S 3000+mAh pack in there? Maybe splitting the battery into two, 3S packs would allow an easier fit and CG adjustment.

I hate that I stumbled on this thread. It's ronin's fault too! Its the link he posted.

I really like the planes there. I looked at their website years ago looking for a Q40 plane. They did not have these then. I like the smaller planes. I did do a Big Bruce Polecat on 9s, stupid fast and extremely LOUD. That plane came out way too heavy and didn't last long. So now I see these little birds. Thanks! I think. I might get the AJ-2 ?

I'll try to remember to dig it out this weekend and measure the inside of the fuselage for you.

Sorry for the delay in measurements. The kit wasn't in the garage or the storage unit... it may be on the loft but right now I can't get up there to look... Will try to clear off the stairs to the loft above the garage tomorrow...

Extreme flight e-outlaw. I'm about done building one with that setup and it's fairly simple, you do need big servos though. Otherwise the motor will bolt right up. Plenty of room for a 6s 3300.
