So... the build went smoothly... After all, it's a Tamiya kit!
I used my philips screwdriver and a couple of times needed a 2mm and a 1.5mm allen keys!
Quite a change from constant use of allen keys!

My kit did not include the 4-cell AA-size battery holder, which is a kinda pity, because I have not yet ran the trike! I used one of my usual 2S hardcase batteries to set the ESC and radio and then pulled the trigger once or twice to see how... slow it feels!

I am looking locally at small 2S lipos, now, in the region of 900-1300mah, which will fit inside the kit battery case. Hopefully I will find one or two tomorrow...
I have a couple 1800's from the 1/8 bikes, but they are too long to fit.

I removed the kit motor and replaced it with a Nosram brushed 370 motor, along with a Nosram micro Force ESC which also has reverse (may prove useful, you know!) complete with Deans plug for battery. I used the Nosram motor simply because it has different bullet plugs, which suited the Nosram ESC. Otherwise, I don't think it's any better than the kit motor.
A friend of mine suggested a mild 4000-5000kv brushless, along with a set of ball bearings (they already appeared as an option at rcmart!) and nothing else.

Our friend Micky Teng already did wheelies with it, using a 9200kv motor! Find him at Youtube! It's hilarious!

I also mounted an RTR HPI Radio which -surprise surprise in the 2.4 era- is a 27Mhz AM one! The kit has an antenna tube and a mark to cut a hole on the side window of the body, so... I used it!

I didn't paint it yet, because somehow my air supply broke down, so I cant use the airbrush. No fancy paintjob, just a single color, but still with no airbrush...
I will fix it tomorrow! I realized it was broken in the evening, so I couldnt go to the hardware store...
I applied the masking stickers. Note here: The outer stickers and the masking ones are not pre cut! I don't know... for sure... but I was hoping Tamiya would endulge us with such a small detail and have the stickers pre cut! Oh well... No big deal!

Some crappy cell phone pics for now! I promise to do better when it's painted and stickered!!!

I need to get one of these. Much of what Mickey did with widening the rear track on the foams, would be the way I'd want to go as well. Dropping the CoG and getting more of a low profile frame would be cool too. I am wondering how bullet proof the joint at the rear front connection is. A lot of potential for mods.

What's the wheelbase on this thing? I can't find any spec other than overall length of 260mm...
