Pike Precision 2

Not too much information out there but there's a few videos out there. I am traveling to Czech so I may stop by factory and I inquired about picking it up in person.

Precision 2

Howdy,

The Precision 2 has a waiting list, if you are interested in one, I suggest you speak to a dealer in USA....
Now that it's won the WC, the list is growing...
We have some coming into the US next month but they are sold.... Next batch, at least for us, is another 3 mo. out.

Best,
Bob

What are the changes from the original?

The Precision is a great all a rounder and very competitive, one of my favorite planes.

So I have one coming soon in March. Noticed the settings and it's interesting that the cg is so much more forward and -.5 mm elevator down trim and saying that less ballast is needed.

Yeah seems wierd because if you wanted a neutral elevator then you would have to have even more of a forward cg and the cg is already pretty far forward for an f3f ship, but this is higher apsect ratio so you can't compare old precision to new precision. I just went through an exercise (the opposite of this ) where I had a 2 meter ship that just kept want to do go down towards the ground with a bunch of up elevator at recommended cg until I moved cg all the way back to 100mm and it has a high aspect ratio wing with 0/0 incidence. So perhaps maybe try a more forward cg initially.

A lot of f3x models with a vtail have the same behaviour. I've had two fs3s and they both needed at least that of down trim to fly level. My Avatar also needs a similar amount of down trim.

Ok, perhaps I set it up as written and not fuss with it. I just thought a plane would be the fastest all things considered with elevator neutral but .5mm is not a lot.

So supposedly Precision 2 will be on it's way to USA. It will be interesting to see how much ballast it will come with and if it will reach FAI limit out of the box. I have heard that the Precision 2 will reach FAI limit on brass only, if so this might be an advantage cost wise with Pitbull 2.

According to SUSAs website, the precision 2 comes with 2000 g of ballast. If the empty weight is 2000 g, this is about 700 g short of what is needed to get to the limit. But you should be able to get there with lead. With the Pit, you definitely need tungsten.

Tom - with the newer aerofoil sections for the last 10 years or so - NONE of the ones used for F3f or at least those that I have seen, needs any angle of attack.

If they do have such angles they will likely balloon in the turns.

The original Nyx and Sting planes were like that and thats what killed the Strega.

I'm completely sure that the PP2 will have no incidence.

On the Strega its easy to prove - take out the incidence and see what happens.

Cheers,

Doc J.
