I ordered 4 of the metal tail motor mounts for my 250cfxs. I think the 230sv2 can do ok stock (although the metal tail motor mounts certainly would help there too), but the metal and cooling holes should help cool things down for the 250cfx tail motor. Have had them for a few days, but today put one on my main 250cfx along with a brand new tail motor (I got the old one a little toasty) while I was at it. I used fishing line to pull the wires thru the boom. I tried using the original boom but the plastic tail motor mount was glued on and I pretty much destroyed the boom getting the plastic mount off. Next time I will just grind the plastic motor mount away until it comes off easy. Or torch it off the aluminum boom but that would make some toxic fumes. Would need to turn on a big fan.

This is the 250cfx I bought brand new last year. From the picture it looks like I broke off one frame screw and 3 are loose, but it came that way from the factory/repair center where they replaced the dead esc it shipped with brand new (under warranty). The 3 screws I unscrewed and they are actually the wrong size (too large diameter/thd) that they forced in until they wouldn't go any further and broke one off. So just now I replaced the three with proper size screws with some loctite. Should've done it before probably.

So I purchased my 250cfx used and getting ready to replace motor based on bearing issue. It currently is running a 9 t pinion. Is that stock or was it swapped out? Seems low as my 230 is running a 12t.

they are low geared stock, go 11T and you pick up a decent performance gain. way back, guys used to do the same thing on the 300X (same motor - 9t pinion) - jump to 11t for a decent performance gain.

the 250 CFX - same motor, centre chassis and rotor blades was 11t pinion stock.

stock its a 4200kv motor vs 3900kv on the 230s so it's already 4200/3600 = 1.167 or 16.7% faster at the motor. same as running 10 - 11 t on the 230S. the 250 motor pulls more head speed where-as the 230ss motor is out of grunt running the rotor head.

if the motor is good, keep running it but watch the vibe levels

A true work of art..... 300x/cfx drive shaft, main gear holder, 300/450 main gear. SOLID. i always break the top off the 250 main gear where the bolt goes through the plastic..,..

Lynx swash , microheli std height 300 DFC head.

There is a workable combo with the 250 main shaft as well. Got the parts so time to us them !

I dialed the tail gains on my main 250cfx back to 110 100 100 175 and it flew fine this morning. But those darn spring winds are finally gone along with the south wind that generates mini tornadoes and all sorts of turbulence across my flying field.

It flew fine before, just real hot. I love my 250cfx's. I tried to buy a used and broken frame 230sv2 for $100 and got outbid. Paid $120 for a better and flying condition 250cfx. It does have a worn out bearing, but I just got in a new package of bearings today. Got five 250cfx's now. Sweet!

If you ever get into larger helicopters you're going to need some seriously deep pockets to have 5 of each

That's one of my main reasons why not to get much bigger. I'm giving up on my junk blade 330s and so my biggest will now be a fusion 270. And I much prefer CF frame over cheap plastic. Like my 150s, fusion 180, 250cfx, and fusion 270 -a minor crash doesn't break things up.

Even better, getting rid of the 330s gives me room for two more 230sv2 or 250cfx (s)!
