Mini-Review
JMT 100mm frame
Not a comprehensive review...
I break a lot of frames. I'm good at it, really good at it. So I needed to replace a 100mm frame for 8.5mm 2S motors and other than making another bamboo frame I searched Aliexpress for a cheap deal. I chanced upon this ultra cheap carbon frame https://www.aliexpress.com/item/JMT-...311.0.0.X4n4Wq for £2.31. With it being so cheap, if I broke it, I wouldn't be bothered. There were no specs and dimensions, and after doing some rigorous searching on the net for a reviews (finding zero), it was with me within two weeks. So essentially, the frame is not assembled upon arrival which means constructing it. The 2mm thickness frame sections I guess are supposed to be easy to put together with minimal fuss. This was not the case. As with these products the dimensions and the way they are cut mean that everything is a tight fit, so much so that none of it actually fits. You'll need to grind down the interconnecting parts with a file while trying to minimize carbon fibre dust (which is harmful to your lungs). Best doing this by making the carbon fibre damp and not using a dremel which flings dust into the air. After much fiddling and filing, I managed to get it into a frame and weighed it with the grommets. It came up a rosy 11 grams. A bit heavy in my opinion but it's 2mm thickness and was going to use 2s motors. The immediate thing I noticed after putting it together was the arms and and the cut out sections. Clearly, this is going to be a weakness.... It was. On it's first tuning flight with a DM007 board and weighing in at 42g with board and motors, it had a drop of around half a metre and one of the arms snapped at the weak points. Useless really, if it cant take a drop from some little height and from a hover, there's virtually no point in using it. However, it has a nice form factor and the lack of obstruction on the arms is great for thrust. Once I fixed the arm with a bit of superglue, having a proper test, I found it to be plenty nippy. All in all, a very cheap frame which will likely disintegrate in any type of crash. I wouldn't buy it unless you plan on adding support to the arms...which I plan on doing... |

Addendum
The frame is awful. Do not waste your money.
I tried to increase the strength of the weak points on the arm but knew that doing so would just make it more likely that the arm would snap where it connects with the frame... |

Behold! Cheap frame achieves cheap results!
So I managed one proper flight with it and I destroyed the arm within a minute. Avoid. |
