I'd like to announce that the Rocky Mountain Soaring Association will be hosting a 2-day F5J contest in Denver, CO on Sept 30 and Oct 1 2017.

The F5J in the Rockies contest is part of the F5J USA Tour (http://www.f5j-usa.com/) and will be flown on a nice sod farm, not far from the Denver airport. GPS coordinates 39.914938, -104.753195, or you can use the address 20211 East 120th Ave Commerce City, CO for navigation.

There are a bunch of hotel options along Tower Rd, just 5 miles south of the field.

Registration is now open at www.f3xevents.com, along with a "rules and processes" page and current pilot list.
I'm planning for a maximum of 36 entries, so we'll get plenty of rounds in.
We will be using the GliderScore smartphone scoring system to score this event.

Each model flown must be equipped with an approved F5J logging altimeter. A list of currently approved altimeters is shown below:

I'm not sure if camping will be permitted at the field, but Barr Lake RV Park is only about 3 miles away.
They don't seem to have an active website, but their phone is listed as (303) 659-6180.

Normally dry camping is allowed at our field. We often have RVs for F3J in the Rockies. You simply need to park in the dirt parking areas not on any grass.

Yes - you can practice the day before. The only rule is to not interfere with any farming operations. That means if they start to mow in the area you are in, please move to a different part of the farm. It probably will not be an issue.
