I haven't flown anything since early October. Now I got the itch. So I figured why not go all in with fpv and all. So the little fpv Tim and the F-27 it'll be. Just waiting on the batteries to charge. 2 packs each should scratch my itch for now.

It should be a fun day! Does the box lid still close on lil Tim with the camera on the wing?

Did my flights. It was much windier down the field then I thought. My F-27 didn't like it at all. It got blown bad and only did some what well when headed directly into it. The lil Tim didn't mind it to much and got the 4 batteries. He was doing some horizontal hoovering and even some minor backwards flying |

I've never flown a plane FPV but when I do it will be the Tim. I bought one of the A1100??? cameras intended for the Sport Cub when I bought the plane but never used it. The Tim will easily handle the weight of the camera and a 1s battery so really simple to install. And I think but have never checked that the camera lead may be long enough to put the battery on the bottom of the plane or at least in the battery compartment.

It was hard to see the plane slipping backwards in the goggles but easily seen los . What was easily seen was the plane sitting in place bouncing around and not able to make forward progression until I throttled up to 65% or so. I have a DVR video but of course in typical Fatshark DVR recording quality its for sh**. I wish Fatshark put just a little more effort into the dvr.

Honestly I think fpv is easier then los. If you haven't tried it yet just grab a cheap plane, cheap all in one 25mw cam/tx and go for it. Its easy don't over think it and just go for it.
Right now I'm looking at a SQ12 or SQ13 camera to slap on the umx planes to get some flight video. Only problem is gotta make sure its a genuine cam and not a knock off. The Chinese even knock off there own products and the knock off video is terrible. |

I tried FPV once with a little ET115 quad and it was way too windy outside and I'm not good at quad flying anyhow. I have a few little AIO cams and I'm thinking about putting one on a Mini Popwing. I fly the wing well and it's easy to fix if it breaks when it crashes. I crashed it twice a few days ago flying like a fool and it sustained no damage at all |

I flew my original UMX Timber today for the first times this year. It is super-charged with the Yak/Pitts propeller. A few times the over-current-shutdown occured when I hammered the throttle for takeoffs. I used 2.5 and 3.5 years old E-Flite 280mAh batteries for 10 minute flights and one flight needed to glide down because I did not notice the motor pulsing.
Its takeoff rolls were only 1 foot long then vertical climbs until it looked tiny. Loops, rolls and hammerheads worked well. It flew very fast then with flaps down mixed with a little down elevator it flew very slowly. It flipped over on landings a few times because the grass has not been cut yet this year. |
