As you see the car is even smaller than the Feiyue FY03

When you 1st unbox the car you immediately realize 2 bad aspects of it


* The bad suspension that makes the car bounce around
* The very cheap bad wheels with no foam inside ( they also contribute to the bouncing effect since they lack foam to cushion the anomalies of the road )

My plan is to mod the car to almost hobby grade quality.
The fist move is to find a new or mod the existing servo to 3 pin so i can use a normal hobby grade receiver with the car.

In the above photos you may have noticed that the car is very wide, the reason for that is that i have 15mm axle wideners at the back and 25mm at the front.

Also as a cheap upgrade to the suspension i used the suspension from the Remo 1/16 truck which also made the car sit lower and closer to the ground.

Hopefully these 2 simple mods will make the car way more stable and less prone to roll over while turning.

If all goes according to plan my intention is to make with car FPV

I think i solved the puzzle with the proprietary servo. The servo was a major problem when you wanted to upgrade to hobby grade ESC and receiver.

Well to convert the servo to standard 3pin i sacrificed the control board of a small tower pro SG90 servo. It was a bit of a hassle to match up the signal cables cause they don't color match but i was lucky.

It doesn't seem to move that much. And when you put it in the car, what is the result?

i haven't put it in the car yet, i just figure it out like 15min ago.

I wanted confirmation that the range of motion is OK before i take the car apart

I don't know how is the steering mecanism after the servo, but it seems to not move enough.

I installed it on the car and it seems to work OK

The steering needs trimming because its not straight but its just a test.

What do you guys think ?

It is clearly not a lot for me.

The car is ready lets summarize the upgrades so far:

* Axle wideners
* Brushed ESC ( in the battery compartment )
* FlySky Receiver
* Coverted original steering to 3pin
* Motor Heatsink
* 2s lipo 2000 mah
* Remo shocks to lower the car and make it not bounce so much

Upgrades to come ( waiting for hardware )

* HBX wheels ( only have 1 pair now )
* Lights
* Oil shocks
* FPV
* Maybe a horn ( if i can figure out how to make one )


The only problem i had with the car is that it was very hard to line up the steering properly and it required "mechanical" trim if i can call it that from the car also needed trim and subtrim from the controller and also raised the limits of the steering channel to 120%.

I am happy with the upgrades so far and the car looks as "clean" as possible.

I think your are going to love this, corona servo with the original gear shaped servo horn.

The steering went from lame to awesome. This is the kind of servo i use of my Feiyue so if it work perfectly on that car on the 9120 its overkill

Update:

* Made Velcro straps, and modified the battery cover so i can fit the straps.
* The servo cover no longer fits, so i cut the front part of the cover because it was a structural part securing the front of the car to the chassis.
* Pour hot glue over my DIY mount to make it stronger.
* I also cut off the power switch of the ESC because when the car moving, sometime the switch would trigger cutting power to the car.
* Steering travel now is way to much had to tune it down to about 60%
* Also tuned the end points of forward to 110% and reverse to 70%
* Added some expo to the throttle channel to make acceleration smooth so i don't grind the gears

I believe that's it for now

Next mod completed lights:

* Led lights installed in the buckets on the roof
* No controller is needed
* Lights are connected to the esc plugs going to the motor and the light work only when you press the throttle and the intesity of the light vary depending on the amount of throttle.

This is a very easy little trick from the old days when there were no led controller and you only had a 2 channel radio anyways.

This car is not that fast and it does't roll over easily since its lowered and more wide now so, hopefully the wiring on the roof will stay in place.

Usually i take off the roof light buckets cause on faster better car there is no chance that the lights will stay in place but the 9120 hasn't much to show and it needs a little "bling" to impress lol

Filter on the motor to keep dust and debris out

Nice modding, really making this car more versatile. But you've got to leave that poor cat alone.
