Thanks for the ESC tips. I'm already set up for BLHeli since I converted my Nano CPX to dual brushless. I'll keep the Talon 35 for its original intended project which uses a 9N6P heli motor. What about input capacitors? The quad ESCs don't have them but I assume I should add some.
The motor showed up yesterday. It definitely looks the part. Hopefully the lipos will appear today so I can start drawing a fuse around them |

It's pretty popular to add input capacitors on quads. For longer wire runs it's required. For shorter, or lower loads it's good practice, but not really required.
I'm excited to see people taking advantage of quad parts. They're so cheap and they keep getting better! |

Got lipos
I've been burned a few times on stated dimensions versus actual dimensions, but I'm happy to report that these Pulse packs appear exactly as advertised. Sweet. The wires are also routed correctly, inline with the long axis, instead of sticking out at 90 degrees like some batteries. They came with beefy (16AWG) leads and XT30s installed, which look vastly superior to the Micro Deans I use on small stuff. Looks like high time to switch. I'll do some load tests and see how they perform |

8s.
Tattu 650 75c 8s and APC 4x4.5" is fastest tested lately with me.
7s 650 is close behind. This 28" comes in at around 13-14 oz with 6, 7, and 8s packs. Tattu 850 75c 6s and APC 5.2x6" is very fast also. Coming.. 30" with Tmotor F80 2500, BeeRotor 80a, and Tattu 1000 75c , 8s, APC 5.1x5".. |

Although it works in current model, bigger battery and slightly more dimensions are needed. This and Tmotor holds world record quad speed.. http://rctimer.com/product-1757.html Tattu 1050 4s 75c is a great size to build around. 850 is thick, 650 works, but very limited. The APC 4x4.5" holds up nicely over 50k rpm. T Motor can take 60a + bursts. T Motor is over 40 grams with great cooling. What motots(s) are over 40 grams? |

I have 5 of these:
https://m.banggood.com/Sunnysky-Edge...p-1215689.html I think they are the same as the ones here: https://www.miniquadtestbench.com/ro...08-2600kv.html I found this esc recently: https://www.undergroundfpv.com/colle...nt=51310726276 18mm wide vs 26 for that other one. Thoughts? |

ESC/MOTOR looks good. That narrow board esc gives more fuselage options.. and very light. Worth trying. I should be testing some new 8s aircraft soon. Thanks! |

I have been enjoying your build and similar 27" speed designs enough to dive in... I have most of my materials and components together to begin. I really like your wing build method over the Slipso400 solid balsa plank. I would like to know what type of hinging you are using on your control surfaces. PLDaniels uses laminating film and water-based polyurethane, which makes hinging simple, but I would prefer to use epoxy/fiberglass with an epoxy finish coat on the built-up wing. Would you mind sharing your hinging technique? Your ailerons look perfect!

I use ca hinge cut down to 1/8", gluing with epoxy, one side at a time. X4 per surface. Slight double bevel. Sometimes I simply use oderless thin ca, but with great attention to using as little glue as possible. The controls are fitted before glassing to give a chance to sand even first. Yea, there is a tiny gap, but there also is no flutter at 200mph.. M |

Microshark
22" coming, using 1306 4000kv on 300mah 4s.
This should be the lightest 100mph I have built, with a 110g target weight.. |
