ESCs for an homemade segway.

Hi all,

I'm doing a small project with couple of guys from work where we want to create our own outdoors self balancing robot (like a segway but remote controlled).

We've been thinking about using these Brushless non-gear hub motors for scooters 24V 250W motors (NO-load speed: 800rpm (adjustable 300-1200rpm)) (or similar).

Could I use RC ESCs like these:
or would I need to use some more serius ones like the Sabertooth 2x25

Any recommendations are appreciated.

the first ESC is for sensorless motor control and the second is for brushed motors. IMO you need an ESC that uses hall sensors for the fine control you will need for balancing at a standstill. the motor you linked does have built in hall sensors.
