GASB 1.0 - Flying wing (ONLY 9 PIECES)

Ciao a tutti,
hallo everybody! Iím Carlo from Italy and for about one year I started to develop 3D printed planes.

Today I would like to show you my GASB 1.0 printed for free by over 11000 people all around the world.

GASB 1.0 is the new release of my flying wing, it is a very good flier and also good for the beginner on this kind of model. This version is born after the big success of the previous release named GASB One. The new release cover all suggestions coming from the user that have tested and also from my friends of my flight field (GASB). The previous version GASB One was drawn as solid, so was need print with infill to allow the printing, instead the new model, now available, is a shell with internal structures then it is possible to print with 0% of infill. The thickness of the shell is 0,4mm that can be done with just one perimeter, but I prefer made two perimeter of 0,2mm. I suggest to use Cura Engine inside to RepetierHost that to me is the better for this scope. For the central part of the flying wing I suggest to use 5% of infill since in some parts there are, inside, solids to built.

The new features of GASB 1.0 are: new holes for fingers and hook for takeoff, new fuselage more capable, new wings profile to improve the flight experience, 9g servos, ailerons 50% more bigger and better positioned, new winglets.

Look on the tube GASB One or GASB 1.0 to see how it flights, then, download it for free from Thingiverse, print it and enjoy!!

Great looking plane Carlo, thanks for sharing!

A question on the Cura settings, if I set my layer width to 0.2mm would it then automatically give me 2 perimeters to get to 0.4mm? I do not use Cura often.

Thanks!

Yes Rudix,
since the shell thickness is 0,4mm, if you set 0,2mm perimeter the slicer made two perimeters one for internal shell and one for external. With 2 perimeters is very strong

Thanks Carletto73!

I will print a GASB 1.0 as soon as my printers are finished with the current projects, looking forward to it!

I see you have made connection with many Pins.

I also see your internal spar designs.

My Printer is capable of 300 x 300 x 400

So I was wondering if I could print the WHOLE Left
then Right Wing a single pieces to avoid the Pins connections.
Finally the elevons if designed or arranged as top and bottom pieces
could be done as full length parts. Clam shells for the Top Bottom.

What do you think ?

The wingspan of this model is 80cm (31,5 inch). The parts of the model are able to fit into a standard 3D printer (19x19x16cm work size). The key points of this design are: very few pieces to be printed (9), cheapness (about 360g of PLA), easy assembly (only CA glue) and good flier!

Ok , I have gotten this far and going strong. see pix below.
Thin walls seem just fine and relatively light weight IMHO.
I used Regular PLA transparent colors on the Outside parts and
HI TEMP PLA for the Clear middle sections.

I'm gonna try Regular PLA Transp-Blue for the Center sections.

I want to use one of my trusty 2826-6 motors and a 1300MH 3s pak or similar.

Is there a NOSE that is longer that I need ? Link?

Or, Do I need to stretch it myself ?

Or just experiment ?

Is there a drawing with the CG for this version ? Link ?

Thanx in advance.

Bob

PS

If this flys reasonably,
and since I have a fairly large build volume 300x300x400
I may have to try to scale it up a few % pts ;>}

The nose on the project is perfect. I don't know why on RClifeOn was modified

Thanx to reply.

I see now the CG Dimples on the bottom.

I'm doing the nose with the recommended two perimeters.
Wheew !!!
It LOOKS sooo MUCH better than the Rear that I mistakenly did with only 1 perimeter ! :>{

I'm thinking that I may have to redo the rear now. Oh well !

Ailerons will be one Perimeter.
Possibly in Transparent Yellow , just because I have a roll and never used it yet !

A CAD study shows I should be able to GET TO 48" SPAN with my Big Volume Folger Ft-5

THAT could prove to be a challenge :>}

Getting closer.

Not to worry I have an alternate idea to install ailerons.

Ran out of Material printing Fore Fuse so I just printed the nose tip and glued it to what was
done when I ran out of material.

There has to be a better way to print the Canopy a make it a little less Heavy
I used 20% honeycomb infill

I have drilled out the TIP aileron hinges so that I can slide the Outer pin in from
the outside .

Just need linkages and TX Mixing.
Then an amp check on my ESC/motor/Prop combo.

I'm almost ready for a test hop.

So whenever time and weather permits.

Woo whoo :>}
