Blade has a new machine and it's based on the very popular Blade 180 CFX. The Trio is a new and improved version of the popular helicopter with a few new upgrades for the backyard pilot. The Trio has a new 3 bladed rotor head that gives some extra pop and tight response to the helicopter. It has an optimized servo layout that houses the metal gear micro servos. The motor is a higher torque outrunner that is supported by the CC Talon 15 amp ESC. The trio is a 3 cell setup running a 450 mAh battery. If you already own the 180CFX you can just replace some of the head components and you can experience the Trio for yourself. Based on these features, you can see Blade is trying to give both the beginner as well as seasoned pilots a fun little helicopter that you can pretty much fly anywhere you want with all the power that you need.

I'm glad they brought back the 180 cfx. As a calm scale and sport pilot I own two 180 cfx's. I'd like to hear the opinion of seasoned 3D pilots, wich is the crowd this little heli is again aimed at.
It looks like there are four differences on this heli so far: the three bladed head, servos to MG, motor to higher torque and the torque tube has a new part number. Did this heli have to be reborn as the Trio or would have the announcement of a few new parts been just fine? |

Looks pretty cool!
I don't own a 180 CFX although I would like to someday since i fly a lot of 3D. I've heard that overall the heli is a pretty tough bird although there were issues with the plastic servos breaking easily upon crashing. However with saying that, they have upgraded the upper two to metal BUT kept the tail servo plastic due to its size & location shouldn't be easily damaged in an average crash. I would have LIKED to see SAFE as that alone saves you a tonne of crashes when practising 3D. I love this feature on the 230s. Will be on the lookout for one in the future though definitely. Cheers! |

Yep, around € 70 - 80 for 1 blade and a set of metal gears for the servos.......

One thing to note for future reference is that like their other nano receivers Spektrum saw fit to wire this one in a non-standard configuration. The V+ and ground are switched on the servo leads (different from how they would be on 99.9% of other receivers and servos). This is only important to note if you are messing with servos or the esc obviously but I've never understood why they did that other than perhaps to try and be proprietary... |

I need help!
I downloaded the setup file from spektrum for the 180 trio on my dx9. But when I go into the throttle curve I have only 3pt of curve in my radio.. 0% 25% 25% {nor} 25% 75% 75% { Iu 1 75% 100% 100% {iu 2 100% like my 270 crx I have all 5 pts of curve. why dose this trio 180 only have 3 pt of curve? |

Normal => throttle curve of 0, 25, 25, 25 => you can shut the motor down by pulling the collective all the way down but at any other position you will have a governed head speed of about 4200 rpm. Obviously do NOT try to go inverted in this flight mode as the motor may shut down as you lower the collective. Idle up 1 => throttle curve of 75, 75, 75 => you will have a governed head speed of about 4600 rpm. Idle up 2 => throttle curve of 100, 100, 100 => you will have a governed head speed of about 5000 rpm. If you have a Castle link adapter you can adjust these head speeds but otherwise you are stuck with the above defaults. I hope that answers your question. |
