The MC-28, MC-28 4D, and MC-26

Graupner introduced three new transmitters in their HoTT lineup at Toledo Weak Signals earlier this year; each one featuring the rock-solid link that Graupner is known for, as well as an intuitive interface and high-quality build. Let's take a quick look at each transmitter.

Graupner MC-28

The MC-28 is a HoTT (Hopping Telemetry Transmission) transmitter that includes a GR-18 receiver with three-axis gyro stabilization. Combined, they allow for real-time telemetry data such as altitude, signal strength, receiver voltage, and temperature. Voice telemetry is also an option. The MC-28 retails for $749.90.

MC-28 Features:

  • 16 proportional channels
  • 120 model memories
  • User selectable handheld or tray option
  • User configurable Haptic (vibration) feedback
  • Programmable MP3 player
  • Hall Sensor quad bearing gimbals with 4096 resolutions for smooth and precise control
  • Intuitively easy to access and use menus with captive touch keys
  • Real time SD-card data logging of critical flight information
  • Micro USB port for charging and data communications
  • Internal circular polarized long range patch antenna
  • External DSC port for flight simulators and or third party devices
  • Integrated Bluetooth for headsets and Smartphones and tablets
  • 6000 mAh LiPo battery

Graupner MC-28 4D

The 4D version of the MC-28 features 4D quad bearing gimbals with 4096 resolution and is aimed at drone operations or anyone wanting the larger gimbals. It can be configured as a handheld transmitter or a tray-style transmitter. The Graupner MC-28 4D retails for $690.90.

Graupner MC-26

The MC-26 has a price tag of $499.90 and does not include Bluetooth. It has a 4000mAh LiPo instead of the larger 6000mAh LiPo in the MC-28, and does not include Hall Effect gimbals. Aside from those three points, the MC-26 is essentially the same as the MC-28.

Are those Tx Modules?

Yes, all these models have IC approval.

They are not RF modules.

Not much interest here???

I am wondering, do these Transmitters have a built in servo balancer function?

I haven't seen an SJ unit so far with balancer.

But Servo Balance is nothing more than a canned curve mix. There are loads of mixes available, 16 in the old MC-20 IIRC. Easy to make your own tweaking mix.

Thanks. I was reading on a Futaba forum where someone was comping that, although you could create your own curves for servo balance, when you then created a KE mix i.e. rudder to elevator where there are multiple servos on the elevator, the mix only affected one elevator servo and not all of them.

What's the word on this?

Sounds like maybe a Futaba thing. I'm pretty sure the MC-20 did not have that problem. Mixed to all servos once you designated the wing or tail type, jsut like my DX18.

I would lay money these will be as good or better.

I wonder if there is a manual download available yet.

The manual I saw did not discuss the issue. I have been flying Jeti and have had EXTREME problems with RF noise. Waiting to see if Jeti is going to be able to fix it. If not, I am looking for a new radio, but I really LOVE the thin feel to the Jeti style.

MC-20 is nice and thin. Not too heavy. Theses look like the same platform. The necl strap brackets that insert and 1/4 turn lock are fabulous.
