Thanks

I dont think it's a telephoto lens(I dont really know what one is)
I took the pics with a kodak 4 mega-pixel, 4x optical zoom camera. The shutter speed was set at 1/1000.

Jon is being modest. I was on my way home from flying. The wind blew my foamie sideways into the trunk of a tree. It was not easy wind to fly in. As I was passing the park I saw a plane doing some blenders. Had to be Jon. I stopped to watch for a while. I was totally impressed. As always. The combo of Jon and Stella made it look easy in gusty, shifting wind. Low inverted passes, hovers into tail touches, KE, harrier rolls, rolling circles, the whole repetoire in very difficult conditions.

Made me feel like a piker.

Hey, gang just finished covering my Stella. Everything went together perfectly and covering was a real piece of cake.

I do have one question regarding the rudder pull-pull; I have it mounted on the outside of the fuz and when I swing the rudder in either direction, the opposing pull linkage droops. Is that normal, and if it isn't what do I do to fix that? I made sure the horn was centered in the rudder and the servo arm is also centered in case that makes any difference.

I also have the batteries pretty far forward as the RZ400 is so light I'm having a bit of trouble with the CG. I'm just going to have to upgrade sooner rather than later to the Himax and bigger batteries

Hopefully I'll be able to maiden soon.

Specs;

RZ400 and GWS 5.33 GB
12x6 GWS prop
3z1200 Etecs
Phoenix 25
Hitec Electron 6 Rx
3 Pico and 1 HS55

AUW 14.25!!
Without batts the plane is an amazing 11.315 oz!!

Talk to y'all later.

Ron,

The opposing droop is normal, no worries. Nice looking Stella!

I'll be interested in hearing how that Razor 400 works for you. I was thinking of using my Razor 2500 but put a Axi 2212/26 in it. I don't have the guts to do what Jon does with balsa. All my 3d is up high with this bird. Gimme a foamy and I bounce them all over.

For any of you guys that haven't seen a good dissertation on pull-pull systems and the effects of "Ackerman" geometry, take a look at the following:

Don't downgrade to the Himaxx, upgrade to a Razor 2500 (unless you want to carry around some extra weight). I'm running the 2500, D ratio, 11-8 APC prop and 3s Lipos. It's an excellent combination!

BTW, nice covering job on Stella! Looks very slick.

Ron,

WOW! That is a striking covering job. As for the pull linkage, it is required that the off cable slackens. Unless you're doing tail slides it wont matter.

Pete,

Do you have a lot of speed with the 11x8 prop? How does it do with 3d?

Thanks for all the comments. This is the first covering job tha turned out almost exactly like it was drawn. It may never happen again.

And Andy, thanks for the Ackerman explanation.

As far as the motor choices, I was originally leaning towards using my AXI 2212/34 but was cincerned it wouldn't have the juice for geting me out of trouble.

I really like my Razors and although there have been customer service issues reported elsewhere, but that hasn't been my experience. My real dllemma is moving up to a larger power system and not breaking the bank on batteries.

Right now I'm flying 3s1200, 3s 880 Poly Quest and Apogee packs on all my planes. I'd really like to keep everything pretty close in size so I can mix and match. I suppose TP or Apogees 1500's wouldn't get me into too much hot water with the financial department/wife.

I'm still considering an AXI 2212/26 how is that set up working for you Grant?
