Airtronics sd5g losing signal

So I've posted a few times on this, but my airtronics sd5g loses signal quite often. It's usually in little bursts and most of the time it seems to be in the same spot when I'm flying. I've had this issue since I got the radio and it happens on multiple planes and both receivers I own. Could this be an issue with a loose solder joint? If not is there anything I can do to diagnose it?

I would perform a range check with the Rx removed from the plane. Focus on the blue Rx LED. If the blue LED does not stay solid but blinks or goes off completely you might be flying in an overcrowded 2.4GHz environment. The blue Rx LED monitors "hits" on the same frequency. Unfortunately, the manual does not mention it.

So would I just turn on the TX and leave it somewhere and carry the RX and batt with me until I'm far enough away?
