First off thank you, thank you James for sharing this build. I've always wanted a paramotor but was to cheep to buy one. This build fit my price range and I could make it the colors I wanted. Your instructions are very through and well thought out(not that I followed them very well at first). It kited well when finished correctly, but not the first time. The kite was strung with 50 and 100 lb kite string because I already had it. Rizer is from an old dog lead as are the D rings.
The cart was built out of 1/2" steel tubing and 1/8"plate and has an all up weight of 12lb (5.5kg). The motor came from banggoods, was sold as a skate board motor, provides more than enough power swinging a 19x8 on 6s and the wheels are from an old cub that is long gone. The rest of the parts were drawn up in autodesk inventer and then printed on a 3D printer. Adding some LED's to it now so I can fly it at night and then I'll disassemble it and powder coat it, just can't make up my mind as to what color. This is a great project I would recommend to any one who has minimum sewing and model building skills. |

Thanks it was my winter project and it took me that long. I've got about 10 good flights on it now and am just getting comfortable flying it.

Hi everybody!
I'm toying with the idea of building one of these sails (thanks James for sharing all your hard work!!!) Most of the questions I have, had been answered already. Like I thought the Vindaloo might be easier to build (or at least less finicky for being larger) but it seems like I was wrong. I saw somebody asked if anybody tried to glide (or free fly) one of these but unless I missed the answer I didn't see a reply to that question and since I basically fly slope gliders the main purpose for me would be to free slope fly it so I'd like to know about that too. I'm not saying I'll be jumping into the build, I'm the kind of person that I like to do as much research as possible before committing to a new (and demanding) project like this one, specially since I can't get any of the materials where I live and everything needs to be imported so I normally try to put myself off for a while just to "test" me to see how committed I am or if it's just a momentary "crush" with the new toy . So... back to reading and lurking from the shadows Thanks again to all sharing tips and hints... Fernando |

Has anyone tried a 3D printer for the rib stiffeners? Before I ventured down that path, thought I'd check to see if anyone has the .STL file for them.
Also curious what material. I'm think PETG over PLA. Don't think ABS is necessary. |
