CG clarification

Hi Frank,

Thanks for your help getting me started on this glider!

From your post #7 about the CG location, you say: Balanced 1/8" in front of the back spar ...
From Post #1 second photo, are you referring to the back spar on the bottom of the plane that apparently is installed per the kit instructions or factory installed? Photos in Post 1 appear to show 3 short spars on the top and 2 short spars on the bottom.

I ordered one RW 800 for $16 US from the BG US warehouse.

I also ordered some HXT500 6.2 gram servos on eBay, $5.59 ea, free shipping, since HK USA West in Portland was out of stock.

I plan to use my existing E-Flite 500 mAh 1S 3.7V 25C Lipo battery. I've used this on two other home-made gliders with sucess.

I'll use my existing Lemon Rx, 6 channel, DSM2 compatible, with end pins $8.50 ea

The blue dots (plastic round pin heads) in front of the rear spar is the starting spot for the CG.

On 1S the servos are going to be a bit lazy.

NiMH Battery Source

Thanks Frank! Lazy servos don't sound very good.

Where do you get your 4 cell NiMH battery packs, specifically the 220 mAh 2/3 sub C 4 cell NiMh battery pack you used in the RW 800?

I found two options on the Horizon Hobby web site ... they cost almost as much as the airframe.

The Losi battery is $12.49, but the white connector looks unusual, so I may have to solder on a servo connector that allows plugging the battery into the Rx. https://www.horizonhobby.com/LOSB0878

I just bought one of the Losi batteries on Amazon for $13.81 with free shipping

Thanks,

That's what I'm using, the Losi. Have had a couple in service for a few years with no problems, so just got two more. Will change the plus since I use this charge/on/off method................
