Futaba T16SZ - 16 Channel Transmitter

The new T16SZ from Futaba was announced earlier this year, and has finally made it's way to the Futaba website. Will pricing in the US be announced next?

Telemetry and Touch Screen Display

The new Futaba 16SZ not only sports 16 channels, but it's packed with features such as a 4.3” LCD touch screen, full telemetry, and comes with an R7008SB S.Bus2 high-voltage receiver as well. This blacked-out Futaba air transmitter has a 30-model memory, 8 flight conditions, and 3-axis gyro support, and much more!

Current US pricing is not yet listed, but is rumored to be around the $700 price range. We'll keep a close eye on this one and report back when pricing is determined.

It's much cheaper than that. Preorder for $700 without Tower's usual discounts.

Why would you buy this over a Taranis with Open TX?

WJH,
Probably because not all people like to work in Open TX (although I know it makes a Taranis fantastically flexible in programminmg) and probably Futaba reliability is valued high by many (I'm not saying that a Taranis is not reliable). If one compare features for money a Taranis with Open TX is probably a very clear leader. With the new hall sensor based sticks on a Taranis it should give even better reability and precision.

A more accurate compare is between a bling car and a endless capabilities transformer.

Not getting into a brand war, but for starters Futaba has been around for a long time; many of us adopted Futaba (or any other legacy brand) and have lots of Futaba receivers. I would chose this Tx over a Taranis because I'm not about to replace 20+ receivers.

I abandoned my JR loyalties without even thinking twice about it.

Cool. Another thread where the usual suspects can vent their dislike of all things Futaba. No offense Matt, but there is already a thread with over 16,000 views where all of this has been covered already and where, as I said, the same people above have vented the same list of things they dislike about Futaba.

$700 US, £799 UK - ouch! I guess that is our VAT regimen and the post-Brexit vote collapse of the pound coming into play. It looks quite nice, but with limited voice I doubt they will be that popular at that price.

A shame, as Futaba have a big potential opportunity at present given HHs recent own goal on distribution and service in the EU.
