Slow Stick with Hacker Brushless Questions
I am going to get a Slow Stick for AP use. I am most familiar with Hacker Brushless motors and I have a B20 18L with 4:1 gearbox.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how best to set up a Slow Stick with this motor and gearbox, i.e. batteries, propellor, etc.? Would I be better off with a different Hacker motor and gear box for the slow stick than what I have? If so, what is best? I am only asking these questions regarding Hacker only. I have read the other thread regarding setups with other motors. Thank you for any advice. RC Pete |

I had a Hacker B20 L15 with the Maxon in a balsa builtup winged SS and it was a great performer. It was not an AP SS, but the balsa wing was heavier than the stock wing so it was probably close in AUW to a 4-5 oz camera. I ran a 12x6 APC thin E prop with a 3S LiPo. I find the L15 and the L18 pretty close in performance, but the L18 draws less amps on a larger diameter prop... good for gliders and 3D.
I had one of those laser cut plywood motor mounts designed for the B20. They seem a little on the weak side to me. But it is important that the GB is secured by it's mounting holes... as I understand it. The Hacker is now in a 2M glider and I generally run a HiMax 2025-4200 on a Cobri 6.3:1 GB spinning a 12x8 APC in the SS. I like the deeper gearing. Sierra Gold |
