WW1 3D Foamies

I've been working on a range of foamie models.
Currently two are flight tested and a few others are on the drawing board.

(I'm also working on an indoor version of the DR1
see the following thread :
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=305596 )

The pictures tell the story.

Bought at a price.
Those are neat! If they fly 3D well, you're really on to something.

Why hasn't someone done this before?

Thanks Brad.
I haven't seen any others. I have seen foamy WWI models here and there although none profile and designed for 3D.

I sorta became addicted to multiwing models after building a Scirocco. the biplane format has some advantages.

What I was hoping to achieve was a good 3D/Sport model.

The SE5A is certainly 3D capable.

The Dr1 will also do some 3D. It looks great in the air and with the low wing loading it can fly very slowly.

pmjass They look great, nice work. I can never find the time to spruce up my foamies but hey, they don't last more than a few flights

a few others are on the drawing board. Any clues??

Very nice! I love WWI planes, ever since I was a kid. If you plan to sell or share plans/kit, let me know. I would be interested.

Very nice job on the Fokker!

I've often wondered why we haven't seen any 3D bipes other than the Ultimate, any 3D monowings (Thunderbolt, Corsair, Hellcat, Mustang) other than the often duplicated Extras, Katanas, etc. Your planes look nice and have a lot more flair than a simple acrobatic design.

Thanks,

Plans will be available early next week. they will be pdf files of the required templates in addition to the artwork for the pilots and the insignia etc.

I've certainly been thinking about doing kits, however I'll go with plans first and see what the interest is.

I'll keep everyone posted in this thread.

Regards,

Peter

I seem to have managed to start off two identical threads.
Does anybody know how to delete one and move the content to the other?

They are both powered by Himax 2025/4200 in GWS "C" Box using a Bishop-Power-Products adapter.

Prop is an APC Slow Fly 11x4.7 (The 11x5.5 APC-E is also good).

Batteries are Thunder Power 2100's 3S.

AUW of the SE5A is 18 oz or 504 gms
AUW of the Fokker DR1 is 19.5 oz or 546 gms

Servos are Waypoint 84's

Receivers are JR610's

They are both around the 36" or 912mm

DuBro micro fittings used (These are great).

just a word of advice, on the bipe, explain how to setup the aileron linkages REALLY well. I tried doing an Ultimate and never could get the linkages to work properly (I'm positive i was just *missing* something very easy).

Both planes are excellent looking and I've always wanted both those planes !!

KC - I did a sorta p51-3d - fatty fuse with an wing from a sukalyn/albatross(GPW's)
