Since we are all talking about the VOLO on this thread it sure is easier to use mm's in my opinion. In this case we know what Oleg uses for the zero point. I have a mini scale on my fuselage with little line every 2.5 mm so it's really easy to set cambers and also check to make sure nothing has moved.
And thanks for your reply Oleg. By the way, had my best flight ever today. Basically no wind, light lift just playing around and tried a 20 meter launch, climbed out and had a 10 minute flight. I was pretty darn happy! |

I will contact Donatas and/or get you in touch with him. Hard to believe that Donatas would take the money and not deliver. We'll figure out what happened. |

Regarding the angle measurements. I got me this cute digital angle gauge, which makes it a lot easier to measure deflection angles in degrees. I highly recommend one to everybody. Made for heli blade pitch measurements. Cut off the bottom piece and glue it to a home made clothes pin with soft foam on the jaws.

I'm in Florida for a few months and the sun is really hot, especially in the afternoon.
Does anyone know if there is someone who makes a cover like this picture that would fit our ships? Or any better ideas? |

Looking
I have a couple of them from my Giant Scale aerobatic days. They were made here in AZ but I'm not sure the lady is making them anymore. I'm doing some checking. I'm interested for another project.
Most have the wing skins that you can buy with the plane. Kind of a pain but they work. Darwin N. Barrie Chandler, AZ Team Futaba |

backup system
a bit off,..
Hi Oleg, could you share a close-up pic of this backup system you are using for the light Volo? Quote:
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...back-up-system but I wasn't able to find recent updates in that thread on the latest development of this system (with step-up, but light in weight). btw, what the source of the step-up module? thank you. Kelly |

Kelly, I will post pics later. I will be making a couple more sets probably for future planes.
The diodes are the 'smart diodes' , links posted in that thread. The step-up converter from Hobby King, bought several years ago for hand launch planes and used very little (before I switched to direct 1-cell on HL planes). |

It is a good time to get your name on the waiting list for a Volo!
If you want to get one for the Spring season that is. The factory has just received a set of molds for the 3 degree center joiner! I have been pressing them to make higher bend joiners, both the center one and the tip ones. Well, the center joiner is coming soon. See pictures of the molds below. I hope the tip joiners will follow also. Meanwhile, Lenny Keer made his own mold for the 8.5 degree tip joiners and kindly made a set for me! I tried them recently in the air and liked the improvement in the circling behavior. I will be putting more pressure on the factory now to get the higher bend tip joiners also... -- ORDERING FORM <-- submit to get on the waiting list for a Volo. -- |

On my super light Volo, I wanted to use the neat blades that Aeromodelis makes for their Sense, and none of the spinners that I tried worked on Volo with these blades.
So I tried this aluminum 'turbo' spinner. It worked well, the blades fold neatly. These spinners are relatively cheap and I like how they are designed, with a collet and a pull screw. -- |

FWIW, I have never had an issue with a collet spinner.

Me either
Been using the GM collet style spinners for about 2 years now. Never had one come off or loose. Proper use involves a small amount of Locktite on the prop shaft and on the collet screw.

Ed! thanks for the warning.
I did not think about potential problems. Can you describe what happened to your spinner? Did it slip off the shaft? Or just got loose? Maybe I need to follow Darwin's advice and use some Locktite on the shaft and the screw... |
