Mini-Q Sport 1:28 RC AWD Touring Car

This looks like a fun little car and comes ready to run.

https://hobbyking.com/en_us/catalog/...update-version

I already have a Team Associated SC28 and it's awesome and being a newbie micro/mini scale cars seem to be my thing. Anybody else have experience with these?

I don't have experience with particular car but Mini-Q has always been worth the money.
This one is TR-Q6 (their new chassis) with AAA battery. The strongest point about this car is direct compatibility with Mini-Z parts such as differential, dogbone (swing shaft/cvd), wheel.

If you only plan on running it stock , there's WLtoys 1/28 at the same price and come with 2S lipo.

Or almost the same chassis but bigger wheels and 1S lipo with cartoon look.

Thanks for the feedback! I have also looked online at both the WLtoys and Sinohobby models online and I like their specs as well. I already have and SC28 1:28 scale short course truck with I believe a 1s lipo but the Mini Q touring car taking AAA batteries is desirable to me. My idea would be to use it as a drifter.

If you want to do pure drifting I Sinohobby is the best in budget category with room to grow.
Essential upgrades are relatively easy to come by because you can use differential from Mini-Z as I mentioned earlier.
What you'll need is front one way. It allows the front wheel to spin freely and helps you shove the car in to the corner easier. You can use Kyosho, 3Racing or even Sinohobby part. I'm ordering the Sinohobby one to see how it works. Not that I ever use one before in this scale though...(I have one in my 1/10) but Kyosho is too expensive and 3Racing is out of stock everywhere.

Next thing you will want to do eventually is CS or countersteer. This means rear wheels spin faster than front wheel so you can do opposite lock while drifting.
Again, Sinohobby can use off-the-shelf kit either from M's Racing, provides 1.9 and 2.1 CS ratio or Sinihobby own kit, provides 1.7 CS ratio.
You can do your own too, I do it with my WL because it isn't compatible with any kit.

CS ratio explained:
There're many ways to describe CS but I use 1.x ratio because it's easy to understand.
Basically it indicates rear wheels rotation per 1 front wheel rotation.
For example, 1.7 CS means rear wheels spin 1.7 rotation for each front wheels rotation.

This is my car.
How CS works:
WLtoys 1/28 Counter Steer (CS) Mod (1 min 48 sec)

How CS drives: Please keep in mind that I don't have front one way installed yet. It'll (theoretically) be better with FOW.
WLtoys 1/28 1.875 CS first drifting session (2 min 14 sec)

Anyway, what you'll need are
- Drift tyres: https://www.banggood.com/SINOHOBBY-M...l?rmmds=search
- Front one way (not confirm if it's this exact part. I'll confirm if it is once I got it): https://www.banggood.com/Sinohobby-1...l?rmmds=search
- CS kit, this one provide 1.7 ratio which is relatively easy to start with: https://www.banggood.com/Sinohobby-G...l?rmmds=search
Happy drifting.

If you can hold on a bit Sinohobby might get this one out.

Dual wishbone suspension with adjustable camber. Looks sweet for drifting so you can have mad camber or just touring in general.

This is not official yet but they have this photo on their facebook page for a while now without any announcement. So I think it's still in development.

what's with the AA batteries though? That's a deal breaker for me.

Edit: Actually I stand corrected, that looks like lipos

do you know mini 1:28 wrench that can unscrew the nut on those wheels/tires?

They are standard M2 nuts, diameter 4mm. A normal cross wrench will work just fine.

Also good news! My front one way has arrived and I can confirm that it's really front one way and super smooth.
