ringmaster
I enlarged the print 150% but also enlarged some problems that i worked around , found a alum landing gear makes it easier to mount wheel pants. also working on a scratch built 77" rumpler (ww1 bi wing) no plans are around so this has been a lot of fun. i like larger airplanes . i can see them better also did a venture 80" and a90" one great flyer and great building project also big cloud dancer was fun to build and is a very smooth flying plane. so good luck on your build!!!!!!!

Think I have the gas tank/throttle linkage pretty much figured out. So i guess it's time to attach the landing gear block. I sandwiched a long piece of angle aluminum between the block, and the landing gear to help glue level with the wing. Once in place,I'm going to reinforce the block everywhere i can.

Progress Thanks for the compliment
I am throwing in the towel on trying to make the front of the fuse like the plans,or picture in the article. I think they were drawn for a smaller 2 stroke. I cut out the nose ring, and realized it will take more work to make it look right than I am willing to do. I am just going to glue on the balsa block, and sand and putty to make it look somewhat stream lined. But leave the front open. And see what I wind up with. Some things the only way to go is jump in feet first, and see where you surface |

Ziroli Ringmaster
Nick Ziroli is one of our club members here in Sarasota. He gave one of my flying buddies the original Ringmaster a few years back. Sadly, a radio failure sent it to R/C heaven. I finally found the picture of it - maybe it will help with your build.

Thanks for the picture. I think I read about that original plane somewhere. Too bad it's gone.
I worked on the cowl area a little bit last weekend, and it's coming out better than I thought it would just gluing a big block on there and sanding it out. I'm afraid to say it's going on the back burner again though. Flying season/yard season/BBQ season is here. Plus relatives with health issues have been eating up my time. I was hoping someone else would jump in and slap one of these together and show me how it's done. It really isn't that hard of a plane to build. I'll get it done eventually. I did manage to get a bunch of Solartex before it was gone. I wanted to use it on this plane to get some experience with it. Hopefully someone will come out with something similar. |

You won't have any trouble with Solartex. If were any easier, the model would cover itself.
We still have some snow on the ground, so I haven't done any yard work, or flying. It's warm enough to start the BBQ season, though. I'm going to smoke a 3 pound ring of kielbasa, tomorrow. |

No, It's pretty much at the same place it was last I posted on this thread. I will get back to it if I live long enough. I am still dealing with relatives with health issues. I have a hard time keeping the planes I have flying, and finding the time to fly them. I really would like to get back to it. But forcing myself to find the time takes the fun out of it. Maybe next fall
I really don't think it is that hard to build. Please post all the pictures you can if you feel like it,and I hope it turns out well |
