Build Log

Sparky's B-52 EDF

I finally got started on Keith's new B-52. He has already proven it as a glider and now is building a 8 edf prototype.
I'll be building along with him. Keith sent me the plans, all the plastics and foam wing cores. I know, I'm not an EDF guy
but I have a secret weapon. Already have Wade thinking about it. Want to try to use the Dr Mad Thrust 8 blade 30 mm
EDF unit but they are out of stock. Hope HK can get them in before too long.
So here is Keith's proven glider and my start on the fuse.

My build starts slowly on page 6, then picks up steam later.

I had noticed this plane a few days ago and was doing some offhand figuring on how the Delta-v180 from the UMX A-10 would work That little thing has some pop to it. 8 of those would give ~18 oz of thrust.

Off and running....Go get 'em J!

And just think of all the crap I caught for the 66....with two EDF's! Now your tackling eight? This is like a sick dream!

Have fun my friend! I hope to see both at SMALL.

I knew I would suck some gas when I announced this. But the chance to work with Sparky makes it worthwhile.

bigjohn,
18 oz won't do it. We're looking at the DR MT 40 mm with a claimed 14 oz per fan. I think we need 7 lbs of thrust to make
gear on this thing practical.

Yeah, I was thinking along the lines of just making it a powered hand launch glider. Will 40's fit the nacelle?
