Field of View: you won't be getting the promised 140 degrees! FOV is wide, but at least without nasty fisheye bulge. I found the FOV wide enough while filming from my little rc plane and appreciate the straight horizon.

Video: it looks to me that 1080p30 isn't really 1080, but upscaled from a lower resolution. The 720p30 footage actually looks pretty good imo. My copy seems properly focused for aerial filming (not too close).

date/time stamp: you can choose for a date & time stamp to show up in you video or not. The camera will put a text-file on the card (20150101235530 / yyyymmddhhmmss) that you can correct in a text editor. After that there is a space plus a 'Y' (Yes) for the stamp to show up. If you don't want the stamp to show up, just change that 'Y' to a 'N' (No) and safe to the card. Simple as that.

video files: video will be broken up in sections, each 5m 01s long.

charging: the RED light will blink while charging. After a while it'll stay on (not sure yet what that means/camera stays warm) When you're trying to start to record when the battery is low, the blue light will flash a couple of times, and the camera will switch off.

Weight: 19 grams

Received my first SQ11 just moments ago; it's the RED one from BG which took just 11 days from ordering till my doorstep which is pretty darn good imo

Got it charging right now.

And yes, it's tiny.

First testfootage during a drive today. Dull grey day. Camera wasn't mounted very well so ... footage from more uneven roadsurfaces wasn't very good.

first test SQ11 digicam (2 min 10 sec)

It's field of view is pretty wide for such a cheap little camera, colors are okay, but have my doubts it's genuine 1080; it lacks the detail you get with real 1080 video, so I think it's upscaled. Will have a look at 720 later on; might be better, while needing less processing, less bandwith, less memory ... The original footage is also a bit jerky and putting it thru editing AND uploading to Youtube didn't do it any favours.

But so far, for a US$15-20 digicam I think you cannot really complain

Will test more ....

I'm afraid picture quality isn't much to write home about; certainly not 12MP quality.

Quick picture this morning; board is likely to reduce its size tho. Original filesize of this picture was a whopping 6.88Mb, but you just don't get the details you should get with a genuine 4032X3024 image.

Ran into a bit of a snag after coming back from a park where I did some comparison videos in 720 and 1080 with the SQ11 on a tripod. Quite a few of the 720 clips I took turned out to be just black with just sound No problems with 1080: all 1080 clips were okay No idea what happened there as I watched the little lights (red and blue) carefully every time to make sure I was in the correct mode.

Just had a quick look and my first impression was correct: 1080 isn't genuine, 720 seems native. No benefit from 1080; it's just a (much) larger file. That been said: I do like the look of the 720 video. It isn't bad when the AWB gets it right Field of view is nice and wide! Focus isn't placed too close so aerial shots should be okay too. Nice sunny weather over here now, but too much wind for decent aerial footage

Just back from a first flight with the SQ11 camera. My hopes weren't too high as the footage I got from driving around were kinda jello-y, but I had no way of mounting the little camera firmly. So I did my best to secure the SQ11 onto the 'camera-cockpit' of my XK A700 (velcro underneath, gaffertape over the top plus a small rubber band/see picture) and took it up for a spin in winds (3-4 bf) that made the light A700 rather twichy; not the best conditions for smooth aerial footage, but a good test to see how the camera would handle changing conditions up high. So windy, cloudy and grey weather.

And I have to say I was really impressed! Footage (I shot in 720 and 1080) looked pretty good for a little and cheap camera like this. Securing it firmly to the plane worked like a charm: no jello! It handled light-dark transitions pretty good, and the AWB wasn't all over the place like you might get with other cheapo cameras. But best of all: a nice wide field of view WITHOUT DISTORTION! EXCELLENT!!!

I have no time to put up footage right now but will try it later for sure.

How much does SQ11 weigh?

I don't have a precise (digital) scale, but I think it's around 20 grams. It's pretty heavy for such a tiny camera; underneath the rubber exterior it has a metal body.

My first plane-ride with the SQ11 onboard my XK A700 earlier today. It was too windy for decent video footage with the light A700, but it does show that the SQ11 is pretty good in handling changes in exposure and white balance. I'm kinda impressed.

Field of view is nice and wide, without any distortion. There is a bit of a hot-spot in the center but I can forgive it for that: the lens is minute.

Video was shot in the 1080p30 setting of the SQ11:

SQ11 Mini DV first aerial footage (2 min 19 sec)

Convinced that the 1080p30 isn't real, but upscaled. The 720p30 looks pretty good.

Oh, and the mic is LOUD!

Little duration-test this evening. Had the SQ11 record the tv: runtime exactly 30 mins (@ 1080p30) which is quite a bit shorter than the 100 mins promised in the specs. Maybe it'll improve a bit after a couple of charing cycles. Sound was pretty good

*edit: also did one on 720p30 and my SQ11 recorded about 35 mins this time.

Just another user...
I bought two of these based on the 140-deg FOV claim in the advertisement as I wanted to mount it on a micro-quadcopter.

Nope, it's only about 50-deg FOV horizontally (57-deg diagonally). And I got about 50~55 minutes recording time on both 1080p and 720p - but far less than the 100-minute time claimed in the advertisement.

I am not sure why they would have to publish misleading claims in the advertising. If one are looking for a narrow 50-deg FOV micro camera, this would fit the bill. But then, if one is looking for a camera with a narrow FOV, why would one buy something advertised as having a 140-deg FOV? Kind of a lose-lose strategy.

The specification list itself does not mention the FOV, but the advertising definitely does. Oh well...
