I just came accross this RCgroups via a thread on RCuniverse...There is a F111 thread there as well. The F111 ducted fan featured in that RCJI article was originally designed by Harry Guerman...he has departed this mortal coil worse luck he was a brillant guy. The mixed storys I see are here are funny. Its amazing how things get changed. His single 7inch own designed fan unit was used in his own design and molded F111. There were several built, one being a fixed wing and also swing wing versions. The undercarriage was not scale but I saw them fly both versions quite a few times and thye were spectacular in the air...and very fast for ducted fan. The last flying one had a turbine in it. it was owned by kevin Dodd here in brisbane but it was broken at Evans Heads a few years ago. The one for sale has never been flown but has since been bought by a friend of mine.
There are two projects that I know of that are viable here in Australia. I have posted pics of Ian Thompsons project in RCU but am posting them here to wet your appetite. The other project I know of I have seen some plans but thats it. Ian's F111 project will have 2 of Simjet S3000 engines in it, thats 60lb of thrust available. The model is 112inches long we hope it will come out around 20kg ready to fly the whole aircraft will be composite so its been a long term project as you can imagine. We hope it will be finished late this year. What I do need is some drawings for the scale undercarriage. I will mill it here so if anyone has any drawings for this it will be much appreciated. The swingwing mechanism will be done by air the same as Harry did his.

BJ64,

I think that project went dead ages ago, but Mibo are rumored to be releasing a F-111 ARF for a while now. I believe that Mike selby built and flew the model at top gun in the US a few years ago and then Mibo would be releasing the kit/ARF. this was some time ago and it seems to have gone awefully quiet since.

Thanks for the update Ticket.

I tried getting in touch with Mike Selby, but got the deaf-ear treatment.

I can sorta understand that - seeing as they are trying to kit it.

But... how for how many years now?

I've done a few things...learnt a few things - but not much closer to getting my 'scale' LG sorted.

Was told long ago that this would be the hardest part of the jigsaw.

Interesting that your name is 'Dave' from QLD - it wouldn't be Dave DeBotton would it?
